A Culinary Gem under the Williamsburg Bridge
There's a small yet enchanting restaurant tucked away under the Williamsburg Bridge in Brooklyn, NYC that you must not miss. Its name is undisclosed, but let me assure you that this family-run eatery is a hidden gem, serving up some of the most authentic and delectable Indian cuisine I've had the pleasure of experiencing.
Upon entering, you'll immediately notice the intimate and cozy atmosphere, with only seven tables creating an inviting space for diners to connect and savor their meals. The restaurant, owned and operated by a warm and talented family from Bangalore, has been serving the local community for just about a year, but has already made a lasting impression.
The menu offers a variety of Indian dishes, including a graduation for spiciness, ranging from 1 pepper for the mildest, to several for those who like their food fiery. This feature is particularly helpful for those who may be unfamiliar with Indian spices or have varying levels of tolerance to heat.
During my visit, I ordered the chicken tikka masala with garlic naan, and I must say, it was nothing short of perfection. The chicken was incredibly tender, with every bite melting in my mouth. The sauce was rich, flavorful, and teeming with spices that created a beautiful symphony of taste. Although the dish was not at all spicy, which was ideal for my personal preference, it still delivered a satisfying depth of flavor that left me wanting more.
To complement the chicken tikka masala, the garlic naan was fresh and fragrant, with a soft, pillowy texture that made it the perfect vessel for scooping up every last drop of that delectable sauce.
What truly sets this restaurant apart, however, is the impeccable service. Despite the intimate setting, I was served by a owner himself - he was very attentive and efficient, ensuring that my meal was served swiftly without compromising the quality or presentation.
If you find yourself in Brooklyn, near the Williamsburg Bridge, don't hesitate to stop by this charming Indian eatery. It may be small in size, but it delivers an unforgettable culinary experience that will have you coming back for more.
PS: In addition to the savory delights, this enchanting Indian eatery also offers a selection of traditional desserts. During my visit, I had the pleasure of sampling the kheer - a sweet rice pudding that was simply divine. The kheer had a delightful, creamy texture that was both comforting and indulgent. The sweetness was perfectly balanced, just enough to satisfy my sweet tooth without being overpowering.
So, if you're looking to treat yourself to a little something sweet after your main course, the kheer at this charming restaurant...
Read moreI was excited to try this place after searching for bulgogi, I used to live in Japan and really love Asian, especially Korean, restaurants!
The food was decent, I actually went with the Salmon plate instead. I wasn't feeling like beef tonight... Rice was great, I went with regular rice because I have issues with red pepper. The egg was fried perfectly. The salmon tasted great, the miso sauce was definitely a good match.
The accompanied vegetables were good although I can't eat red bell peppers and I didn't know they were included, but I already told her I couldn't eat red peppers when I saw there was kimchi... Luckily they were easy to pluck out. The zucchini, mushroom, and carrot sauté was delicious.
The side salad was delicious as well. I loved the greens and carrots and avocado. I wish it came with some taro chips or something crunchy. I think it would add a little life as everything was a similar texture.
My only real disappointment is the price for the size. I get salmon rice plates with a side salad for $6.99 at the deli. The only difference is the fried egg, type of rice, and I get a much bigger portion of fresh seared salmon at the deli, and more veggie sauté. I would love to try more food here but would probably opt to get a small rice and bulgolgi top. Because I'm basically paying $4 for a mini salad... I would think $12 would be a more fair price.. Especially since I'm going to need another plate.
It's also not quite authentic Korean but I don't mind it's still Asiatic.
Also note the place is cute and quaint. The service is decent, the lighting is great. Nice for a date but not for a group of people.
Also note it would be a good place to eat for a first date and not look like a complete piglet hahaha. They don't have to know I eat twice as much as a grown man. 😎💃🏻Although, if you order enough to be full you're probably, definitely, splitting...
Read moreService - 5/5 amazing... Offered free pappr, chutney, raita (yogurt) and kheer, food timings were pretty good as we added random things throughout as well. The gentlemen who spoke to us was extremely courteous, welcoming, and kind.
Ambiance - very clean, clean washroom, put on Indian music while we sat there. Around 8 tables for seating. One other person came in but it was dead because it was lunchtime on Christmas eve and freezing outside.
Food- some things were a hit and some were not.. Some things were a bit pricey and smaller portioned. We ordered the bread baskets which offered various naans and it tasted great and was the perfect softness... Got lamb seekh kabob, began 🍆 bhurta (Sp?), chaana masala, malai chicken, and samosa papdi chaat, and chai ☕ ... The kabob and naan were the better of the selections. The chaat was decent. And to be honest the kheer was one of the best parts. The chutney was really nice as well. Didn't really like the vegetarian stuff we got the chaana masala, eggplant bhurta, and the chaat which had some spices that were a bit overpowering in taste. The chai was the perfect amount of strong but a bit on the sweet side. The overall quality and appearance of the food was great. Recommend the naans,...
