I recently had the opportunity to try out DejaVu Restaurant, and unfortunately, my experience left much to be desired. From the overly salty and mediocre food to the watery gumbo and inedible soup jumo, my meal was far from satisfactory. The overall impression I got from this establishment was quite underwhelming.
To begin with, the food at DejaVu Restaurant was excessively salty and lacked any distinct flavor profiles. It was evident that the dishes lacked the care and attention to detail that one would expect from a restaurant claiming to serve quality cuisine. The gumbo, in particular, was disappointingly watery, lacking the rich and robust flavors typically associated with this dish.
Furthermore, the soup jumo I ordered was simply inedible. It was a complete letdown, both in terms of taste and presentation. The texture was off, and the flavors were unbalanced, making it impossible to enjoy. It was disheartening to encounter such subpar quality in a dish that should have been a highlight of the menu.
Adding to my disappointment was the fact that I had opted for takeout, only to discover that the waitress had the audacity to include an unwarranted gratuity charge. This felt like an unnecessary attempt to take advantage of customers and added to the overall negative experience.
Lastly, I couldn't help but notice that the restaurant, despite claiming to serve Haitian food, seemed to be lacking the authenticity I had expected. The ownership and culinary style appeared more aligned with Spanish cuisine, which was confusing and misleading.
All in all, I regret to say that I cannot recommend De Ja Vu Restaurant based on my visit. The food was consistently salty and mediocre, the gumbo was watery, the soup jumo was inedible, and the attempt to charge gratuity for takeout was an unwelcome surprise. If you're looking for a genuine Haitian dining experience, it's best to explore other options.

Overall it just needs better management and HAITIAN cooks. Canβt do that to the Haitian community. people know good Haitian food versus just trying to get over.
I hope I can come back and update this review. I am rooting...
