The food and selection were great. Good quality ingredient and great taste as well. We were allowed in before their opening time. But they were still setting up for a bit before we could get served. The ambiance was kind of high end. It had a very clean and fancy look inside. There is a bar as well. But what really knocked the stars down a lot was the insanely high pricing.
We ordered 9 small dishes and chrysanthemum tea. The tea was good, chrysanthemum is a classic tea to pair with in dim sum. But onto the food.
The ones I liked a lot were their beef stomach, chive shrimp dumpling, beef rice noodles, and green tea rice ball. Their stomach was really refreshing to eat compared to other dim sum beef stomach. It's slightly pickled which makes it refreshing and pleasant to eat. Their chive shrimp dumplings were juicy and flavorful. Rice noodles were cooked perfectly, nice and smooth and the soy sauce with it was complimented the smooth noodles with the sauce's sweetness. And the green tea rice ball was a good sweet dessert finish for everything. It was crispy and a nice black sesame filling with peanuts. Perfect combination of taste and textures.
Now on to the middle tier food. Shrimp dumpling, shrimp rice noodles, turnip cake and pineapple wonton. I'll admit I'm not a fan of shrimp in general, but the shrimp we had was good quality. They had a great chew and they taste good. My friend enjoyed the shrimp a lot. The turnip came was alright, smooth to eat and crispy outside. The sauce was really salty, but it complemented the neutral taste of the turnip cake. The pineapple wonton was just only cream cheese, didn't taste any pineapple. But it was fried perfectly, and perfectly crispy, if you enjoy cream cheese, it'll be perfect for you.
The more disappointing dish was the bbq pork steam buns. There wasn't much filling nor taste, so it was quite disappointing.
The food was good, but now into the biggest problem. The price was 50 a person. For just ordering 9 sampling dishes for 2 people to be satisfied. It just was insane. I understand the location being expensive. But if you take the train 10-15 minutes to China town; you would have had the same experience and quality for less than half the cost. It's around 20 to 30 dollars per person for a typical dim sum. But to pay almost 2.5 times more was the reason this place lost 2 star for me in terms of pricing.
In conclusion, food was tasty, good quality, good variety. But incredibly over priced when you have other options not too far away...
Read moreDim Sum Palace looks small on the outside than the inside. We were a group of 8, came during noon and was ready to be separated thinking there were no seats during the possible busy time. We were seated within minutes, super surprised the size inside was accommodating for more customers.
All the food was fresh. A menu is at the table, you can mark off how many quantities of food want and then give it to your waiter or waitress. Prices were a little more on the expensive side when it comes to Dim Sum servings familiarity. However, not too crazy at Dim Sum Palace.
I didn't get a chance to take a picture of the spring rolls. If you order, the serving size is really small. In my opinion, we only ordered 1 order and wouldn't order again. It wasn't worth the price, you can barely taste what's in it aside from the fried portion of the springroll.
Our waitress was friendly, always came back to be sure our food was okay, had enough tea in the tea pot and anything else needed.
Double check your receipt before you pay. We were accidentally charged a duck order we didn't order, another table did. Our waitress apologized and we moved forward with payment.

Read moreI had moved over to the East Village about 6 months ago and was walking around looking at different places to try. I came across Dim Sum palace and said I must try it. I ordered take out. Got a couple of dim sum dishes and a couple of main dishes plus an appetizer. All were delicious. I went back a week later to order another take out for dinner. Didn't disappoint. Went back again for another dinner take out and again didn't disappoint. I had since followed them on IG. They posted a tasting menu for 6 people, $29 per person. I told my friends about it and all were interested. We had the tasting on Wednesday April 27 for dinner. The staff was always nice from the first time I went here. They said they were going to set us up in the back room. Nice! We were able to order what we wanted off the tasting menu (dim sum) along with 2 main dishes. They were so accommodating and even told us that he would make us a larger order of our main dishes. We were actually all getting full from the dim sum. We ended up taking the main dishes home and a few dim sum dishes. We even got complimentary dessert. Everything was absolutely delicious and made fresh to order. Will definitely be coming...
