I was roaming the eclectic streets of East Village for about 30 minutes yesterday, looking for a coffee shop where I can sit and get work done. I was continually running into 2 consistent problems:
Well I guess now that I type it out, it makes sense. Actually a lot of sense. They don't want brogrammers coming and posting up working from their shop all day taking up all the seats from other potential paying customers. But on the other hand, as a consumer, sometimes I just want to get out of the crib for an hour or 2 and be in a different space to get the creative juices flowing. Idk but anyways, Kona restored my hope. I write this to you, my humble reader, from one of the about 30+ seats in this place after just having a productive 2-hour session working powered by Kona's signature cold brew. Rocket fuel as the locals call it.
I guess their wifi is only during the weekdays, but that's all I'm asking for. Thank...
ย ย ย Read moreThe area outside of this place is a little bit iffy but it is nice inside. I was interested in trying this place as it has kona coffee beans, which is rare to find elsewhere. I came here twice. The first time I tried the Hawaiian latte. It has a very strong coconut taste, not too strong coffee taste. To me it was so-so but it is just my taste as I do not really enjoy coconut. The second time, I had a latte and avocado toast. The latte was amazing! It is a very different flavour to usual lattes you may get at another coffee shop. The coffee was rich and flavourful. The avocado toast was not very good. It took a really long time for them to serve it. When it arrived, the toast was quite burnt. The avocado did not have much taste or seasoning and seems like something that is worse than what could be made at home. I would come here again for the coffee but...
ย ย ย Read moreEnvironmental friendliness: B, I would like to see more organic and fair trade products offered, but with that said, they have mugs/mason jars for both cold and hot drinks which not many coffee shops have. Most just have ceramics for hot drinks, so that was awesome! They also have metal straws which is a huge plus BUT, as seen in the pic, they also have lots of plastic straws and stirrers. Although they have more environmentally friendly disposable straws as well, they are kept separate and almost out of site. No recycling bins. Atmosphere: A+, very nice layout with the tables and couches, very cozy. They have WiFi which is nice. Staff: super attentive and nice Food and drink: A-, good coffee and some interesting flavors in addition to the regular good stuff Price: A- average to a bit above average, they have a good rewards...
