They serve more of a street food and simple teppanyaki-style food. It is actually a Japanese chain restaurant, and they have more than 90 locations throughout Japan. This is their first location outside of Japan.
The inside is small but cozy, people kept coming in and out with the delicious aroma of food seeping out into the street.
They have three large grills side by side, each specializing in different item: Takoyaki, Okonomiyaki, and Yakisoba. They also have some side dishes like matcha potato chips and Japanese cucumber salad. Each station is maned by one staff, and they cook everything to order. So, it might not be a fast-food place, but you get a piping hot food, straight off the grill.
In order to get the best experience out of this visit, we ordered one of each main dish with different toppings. The portion of each are not huge, and with this fact, some might say the price is a bit high. And I do agree with that, but then again, the quality was really good too. So, the value worth would be up to the customer; do you focus more on the quantity, or more on the quality of the food.
For us, it was a fun visit to DokoDemo. We enjoyed all the food here, much better quality than expected. The staffs were really nice, and they were all Japanese, which is excellent! They welcomed us with a big smile and enthusiasm. Again, the price point is high, but the quality of the food both in ingredients and flavor are high. Read moreCame to DokoDemo because I was working near by and it was listed as a ramen joint. Well, it is...kinda. They don't make ramen in the traditional soup way. Rather, they make it in plates of yakisoba.
The small menu was pleasant and reassuring: I was certain the food would be fresh and well made. I'll be honest, I was a bit bummed they didn't have the soup I was looking for, but i was willing to try the noodle dishes.
I ordered hot tonkatsu yakisoba with pork. The ramen was well cooked and tasty and the broth and pork good, if a bit bland. I had to punch it up with some shichimi togarashi powder. To be fair, again, I asked for not spicy.
After my yakisoba, I saw the takoyaki and had to try it. It was fragrant and flavorful. My only complaint with it would be that the octopus was a bit rubbery. That aside, it was the highlight of my visit.
The food here is reasonably priced, and your definitely get your money's worth. Watch out for the beer prices though - is almost as much as the food! I definitely will...
Read moreMy husband and I have been hunting down the best takoyaki all around NY hoping to find a place that delivers on authentic deliciously satisfying taste and street food vibe. One day we weren`t even on this hunt, in fact we were actually on a spur of the moment search for a good stack.of flapjacks forgetting that a search like that would be met with ridiculous wait times. We just about calles it quita when we came across dokodemo by fate and had found out it just opened up recently. The staff were very welcoming, the smells and sounds of the kitchen had us drool in anticipation. The okonomiyaki with tako and the takoyaki were exactly what we have been hunting for. All we needed was to pair it with a good Sapporo Black and this would be absolutely over the top perfect. Easily the best in NY. Look forward to many trips here and exploring the rest of the menu. The chefs put a lot of care and attention and completely deliver. Well...
