Don Pollo Astoria — Restaurant in New York

I was excited to visit this restaurant today after their reopening following construction. Unfortunately, the experience was very disappointing. When we arrived, the restaurant was empty except for the staff and the manager/owner, but we didn’t feel welcomed or cared for. There was no drinks menu, and service felt disorganized from the start.

We placed our order, but after waiting 45 minutes, several other tables who arrived after us received the exact same dishes before we did. When we asked, the waiter’s explanation was that our order was “missed” or “not submitted to the kitchen,” which doesn’t make sense given we were their first customers.

On top of that, when we requested sauce, the staff seemed more interested in chatting with each other than helping us, and the manager/owner didn’t make any effort to check in or address the situation.

I really don’t enjoy leaving negative reviews, especially for small local businesses that I want to support, but this experience was very frustrating and disappointing. I hope the management takes this feedback seriously, because the food could have been enjoyable if the...

I came back 8/21 and omg if anything this restaurant just got better and better. I got Fina Estampa, Bella Durmiente, Magia Mezcal y Passion Fruit Sour drinks which i highly recomend. Altho i love all of them, magia mezcal was my favorire.

This time i got a " don pollo ceviche " which it have fry calamari in the ceviche 😍 and leche de tigre. And OMG "papa a la huacaina" is something you must try !!! Is Delicious.. the arroz con mariscos is something thay as a peruvian im afrain to order ... but guys when im tell you the flavor was give me the vives of been in the beach eathing this dish is Unbelievable!!!! My last dish was bistec a lo pobre.. and for a minute i really though i was in Peru eating with my family on a regukar sunday... the steak favor is 10/10 cant wait to go back ! Realky gteat...
