King of Falafel & Shawarma is a popular Middle Eastern food cart located in Astoria, Queens. The cart is known for its fresh, authentic falafel and shawarma, as well as its friendly and welcoming service.
The falafel at King of Falafel & Shawarma is made with fresh chickpeas and herbs, and is deep-fried to a golden brown perfection. The shawarma is made with thinly-sliced, marinated chicken or beef that is roasted on a spit until it is crispy and juicy. Both the falafel and the shawarma are served in a pita with your choice of hummus, tahini, baba ghanoush, and other toppings.
In addition to falafel and shawarma, King of Falafel & Shawarma also serves a variety of other Middle Eastern dishes, including baba ghanoush, hummus, tabbouleh, and lentil soup. The food is all very affordable, and the portions are generous.
The service at King of Falafel & Shawarma is friendly and welcoming. The staff is always happy to help you choose the right dish, and they are always willing to make recommendations.
Overall, King of Falafel & Shawarma is a great place to get a delicious and authentic Middle Eastern meal. The food is fresh, the service is friendly, and the prices are reasonable. I highly recommend King of Falafel & Shawarma to anyone looking for a great Middle Eastern meal in...
Read moreI'm happy that king finally got a brick and mortar store because the cart has been a wonderful staple for quite a while now. However, with the brick and mortar comes the inevitable departure from a lot of qualities that made the street food endearing.
First the pros, king still has one of the best stand alone falafels in the city without a doubt. Everything from the shape to the texture to the melt in your mouth decadence is unique and I'm happy that aspect has been preserved.
That being said though, the overall quality of the sandwich has drastically gone down and the price has practically doubled. The basic sandwich will set you back almost $8 and they are always skimpy with the tahini which makes the sandwich rather dry (for my taste anyway). Although the falafel is my go to I've tried a few other things on the menu including the zatar varieties. They are not bad but nothing really left and impression.
The staff is great so that's definitely a plus but most times now I find myself going in only to order sides of falafel which remain true to kings roots. 5 starsbfor the falafel and 3 for everything else which I think evens out to a fair 4...
Read moreWe catered food from our favorite neighborhood restaurant, King of Falafel and Shawarma, for our son’s first birthday party, and it couldn’t have been more perfect! Everything was absolutely delicious, and our guests are still talking about it—especially the crispy, soft falafel, which was a standout hit with everyone.
A huge thank you to Freddy and his team for making the entire experience so seamless and enjoyable. The food was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared—from the tender meats and perfectly seasoned rice to the creamy dips and warm, fresh-baked bread. You could really taste the care and authenticity in every bite.
We feel so lucky to have such an incredible Palestinian restaurant right on our street. Freddie was incredibly kind and accommodating, making sure everything was packed and ready to go on time for our event.
