GREAT PLACE! PERIOD. Starting from the owners to the staff - all are warm and outstanding. They even offer a free hot falafel ball for you to try while waiting for your pick up order. Have ordered for more than 10 times and have never been disappointed. Recomend this falafel heaven to all my friends and family. Update: 04/21/2025 I had the pleasure of connecting with Freddie, the owner of Kings of Falafel — and what a gem of a human being he is. Humble, sincere, and refreshingly straightforward. We had a rather unusual request: a food delivery to a pier near South Street Seaport on Easter evening, with a tight delivery window. Not only did Freddie take it in stride, but he also went above and beyond. His communication throughout was impeccable, and to top it off, he generously included complimentary add-ons without me even asking. The food? Piping hot, absolutely delicious falafel sandwiches delivered right on time. In a city full of options, it’s rare to find a business that blends heart, hustle, and hospitality like this. What more could you possibly ask for? I remain a big fan. — Dr. Soni

I came here on a Tuesday afternoon around 12:30pm and there wasn't really a line, so I got my food quickly. Off the back, I noted how pricey the food was. After taxes and a 3% credit fee, my combo shawarma platter over yellow rice was almost $16. I've never paid so much for a halal platter, so my expectations were pretty high, especially with all the good reviews this place gets. And now the good part; the combo platter from this place was by far the best halal food I've ever had in my life. After taking the first bite, I was amazed at how flavorful and tender the meat was. I've eaten halal food from many places throughout the city over the past 9 years, and none of those places could make meat as tasty as King of Falafel did. The rice itself was good as well, but the chicken and beef were the stars of the show. The food was so good that I would say it was actually worth the price. This place may be pricier than Halal Guys in Manhattan but they make WAY better food imo. Also, parking around here is pretty bad so keep that in mind.

Best in the business (and 100x better than Halal Guys). Freddie is a legend. Honestly it's the best halal food I've ever had, and it stays consistent each and every time I treat myself to KOF, whether it be in store in Astoria or one of the carts in NYC. Freddie is an amazing person who feeds his customers souls as much as their stomaches. And his nephew Diaa is awesome too. KOF is the best kept secret it NYC. Come with a group and order a little bit of everything. I recommend starting with Tabouleh, Hummus, and Baba Ghanoush. THE FALAFEL IS HANDS DOWN THE BEST IVE EVER HAD AND ITS NOT EVEN CLOSE! Beef shawarma, chicken shawarma, original chicken (my favorite), all outstanding. Basmati rice, white sauce, hot sauce, Bada boom, bada bing. If you're by yourself get the Omar Platter Spicy with some falafel. Thank me later.

King of Falafel & Shawarma is a popular Middle Eastern food cart located in Astoria, Queens. The cart is known for its fresh, authentic falafel and shawarma, as well as its friendly and welcoming service.

The falafel at King of Falafel & Shawarma is made with fresh chickpeas and herbs, and is deep-fried to a golden brown perfection. The shawarma is made with thinly-sliced, marinated chicken or beef that is roasted on a spit until it is crispy and juicy. Both the falafel and the shawarma are served in a pita with your choice of hummus, tahini, baba ghanoush, and other toppings.

In addition to falafel and shawarma, King of Falafel & Shawarma also serves a variety of other Middle Eastern dishes, including baba ghanoush, hummus, tabbouleh, and lentil soup. The food is all very affordable, and the portions are generous.

The service at King of Falafel & Shawarma is friendly and welcoming. The staff is always happy to help you choose the right dish, and they are always willing to make recommendations.

Overall, King of Falafel & Shawarma is a great place to get a delicious and authentic Middle Eastern meal. The food is fresh, the service is friendly, and the prices are reasonable. I highly recommend King of Falafel & Shawarma to anyone looking for a great Middle Eastern meal in...

I'm happy that king finally got a brick and mortar store because the cart has been a wonderful staple for quite a while now. However, with the brick and mortar comes the inevitable departure from a lot of qualities that made the street food endearing.

First the pros, king still has one of the best stand alone falafels in the city without a doubt. Everything from the shape to the texture to the melt in your mouth decadence is unique and I'm happy that aspect has been preserved.

That being said though, the overall quality of the sandwich has drastically gone down and the price has practically doubled. The basic sandwich will set you back almost $8 and they are always skimpy with the tahini which makes the sandwich rather dry (for my taste anyway). Although the falafel is my go to I've tried a few other things on the menu including the zatar varieties. They are not bad but nothing really left and impression.

The staff is great so that's definitely a plus but most times now I find myself going in only to order sides of falafel which remain true to kings roots. 5 starsbfor the falafel and 3 for everything else which I think evens out to a fair 4...

We catered food from our favorite neighborhood restaurant, King of Falafel and Shawarma, for our son’s first birthday party, and it couldn’t have been more perfect! Everything was absolutely delicious, and our guests are still talking about it—especially the crispy, soft falafel, which was a standout hit with everyone.

A huge thank you to Freddy and his team for making the entire experience so seamless and enjoyable. The food was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared—from the tender meats and perfectly seasoned rice to the creamy dips and warm, fresh-baked bread. You could really taste the care and authenticity in every bite.

We feel so lucky to have such an incredible Palestinian restaurant right on our street. Freddie was incredibly kind and accommodating, making sure everything was packed and ready to go on time for our event.

The food really brought everyone together and made the celebration even more special. We’re so grateful to King of Falafel and Shawarma for helping make our son’s first birthday a day to remember. Highly recommend them for both everyday meals and...
