Duffy's — Restaurant in New York

Been going to Duffy's for over 30 years, but no more. Food is still delicious but the rudeness that I experienced from 2 staff members the last time I was there was inexcusable. Gave our name to hostess who wrote it down and I told her we'd be having drinks at bar. She never even glanced at me. 40 minutes later we're still waiting to be called. Other patrons arriving after us were being seated. I questioned the hostess who snipped, "I thought you left." Our names were crossed off seating list. When she said it would be at least another half hour, I told her that was unacceptable. Bartender did detect a problem and made an attempt to defuse but we had decided already to go elsewhere. We paid our bar bill and left with another staff member calling out loudly at us as we walked out, "Sorry we ruined your night," in front of all the patrons. Mature. He made no attempt to right the situation but sure felt the need to exacerbate it.

You know what, though? My night wasn't ruined by Duffy's rude staff. We went on to have a fantastic meal and a typical welcoming experience at Jody's instead. I have not returned to Duffy's and the friends we were with haven't either. Nor have numerous people we've shared this experience with. Duffy's lost numerous decades long customers because of rude and inexperienced staff. Shame, because I do miss...

Had an amazing cheddar bacon cheeseburger with fried onions and Cole slaw on the side with onion rings I can't help but to keep the burgers in there in my personal top #10 favorite burgers only to be beaten by Jackson hole 🕳️ the burger 🍔 spot on the ground floor of a brownstone building in Manhattan and another place that I will keep secret because I don't want to ruin try the quiet atmosphere of I try with a flood of people pretending to understand what a good hamburger comes down to it's not just the meat it's also the bread and it's also how little they touch and shape the meat into a disk the less they do the better for me and it's also a good pickle that really helps along with a good quality cheese so my fellow foodies enjoy your tongue 😜 tingling tastetastic endeavors just keep me posted on some of them amazing places to go...
