Decided to try delivery from East 21 on a rainy Friday night. Ordered a variety of foods to try. The listing for them says 35 to 45 minute delivery time. After ordering that time shot up to 50 to 60 minutes and we didn't see our order for 95 minutes. Also our order was missing an item which they refunded us for without any fuss.
Now the food. The two maki rolls we ordered were good. Spicy tuna and Godzilla rolls actually had a hint of real spice heat level which is pretty rare. The tuna alsontast d good.
The two pieces of tomago were ordered alacarte were also tasty being both eggy and a little sweet.
The chicken yaki udon was tasty with the noodles cooked just right and an acceptable amount of chicken.
The pan fried gyoza was fine. Maybe a little on the salty side so you don't need a lot of dipping sauce. I wouldn't be able to tell them apart from frozen ones you can buy.
We also tried some items from the Chinese side of the menu. The chicken with cashews was highly populated with celery. So much so that everything just tastes like celery.
General Tsao's shrimp was a little odd. The shrimp was well cooked and the sauce was good. The coating/breaking though was wet and soggy.
We used a coupon for free cold noodles with our order. I liked them but they're definitely a little odd. The top part of the dish tasted like cold sesame noodles with peanut and sesame sauce. The bottom layers though had soy sauce. So you had these sweet and smoky flavors fighting with the salty soy.
Overall the food was tasty but I would have liked a correct order and on time delivery. I'll give them more chances in the future. They're health inspection grade was an A at the time...
Read moreI have been ordering here a lot lately, ever since summer of this year 2020, after the pandemic has cool down from it peak.
The reason why this is my favorite Chinese food because of the great quality, quantity and price. My house is about 1.3 miles away so this is definitely not the closest Chinese food near me and if I look at the map there is at least 5+ other Chinese foods that are more nearer to me than East 21.
I have always been ordering beef and broccoli and general tso chicken, time to time also the Japanese side of the menu. The taste is really good, and best part is the price you paid ratio to the quantity you get, that is unbeatable. They give you a really good amount.
Many other Chinese food has increased their price after the pandemic, that’s understandable but what is bad is that they start to give you less quantity even though you are paying more now than before.
I have tried many other Chinese food and this one give about 30%+ more amount of beef and broccoli compare to some other ones (depends which other restaurant, some I could even say 50% more broccoli and meat). Some Chinese food they are really cutting corners, giving so much rice and so little broccoli and beef.
If you haven’t try from here, I do recommend try it at least once and you can compare to the other Chinese food you go to and judge for yourself if this place is better or not.
My money is always spend worth in this place. Satisfied service.
Hope they continue to serve the community with the current standard of service, I will always support and order from here when it time for...
Read moreGeneral Tso’s Chicken was made of real chunks of chicken, and little breading. Also crunchy and steaming hot. That is enough for me to give 5 stars, as 99% of Chinese restaurants serve soggy General Tso’s with more breading than chicken.
The pork fried rice wins me over as it’s not as greasy as most Chinese restaurants, with a good amount of meat and onions.
Egg rolls are crunchy and just right.
Crab Rangoon’s are good in a weird way. The cream cheese filling is really nice. The outside is pretty hard but it tastes good.
The boneless spare ribs are way too sweet. If it had a little less sweet sauce it would be perfect.
So far the sushi is way too “fishy” for me. But I really like how the menu is full of so many options.
So far this is one of my favorites in the area.
Also extremely inexpensive compared to other restaurants who charge more for “lesser...
