AVOID! BEWARE!! Save yourselves the headache, plenty of better choices around the area. They served us SPOILED food!! Went in yesterday (8/18) with family for a quick dinner….the place was very empty, more employees hanging around than customers, which should’ve been a RED FLAG. We quickly realized there was NO customer service AT ALL. None of the staff acknowledged us and our waiter barely even looked at us, let alone provide any form of service and we just had to figure everything out by ourselves, including the menu….we ordered Butter Chicken, Tea, Chicken Kabab, Mango Lassi, Naan & Potato Parantha….our waiter kept changing and none any better than the rest….he also introduced the chicken as “Tikka Masala” and when I inquired because we had ordered Butter Chicken, he said that the dish he brought was correct & it was Butter Chicken, this was a bit bizarre but we let it go at the time….and the best part?!? They served us ROTTEN, OLD Butter Chicken! When we complained (again, there was a BIG COMMUNICATION barrier), they tried to pass it off as nothing being wrong but agreed to exchange for another curry - we decided on Chicken Curry (while not spoiled, it was not good either and we barely touched it). The rest of the food was thankfully still edible, although not remarkable or delicious. It was also strange & sketchy how they decided to add in an additional charge as “service charge” handwritten on our bill….honestly, we were peeved because while I happily ALWAYS tip for good service, this entire experience was anything but….additionally, the item was listed in fact as, “Tikka Masala,” of course, while EXTREMELY UNHAPPY, we just wanted to leave at that point so, we didn’t even argue and left after paying the bill. NO ONE even tried to apologize for what happened!! The staff could care less that they served us spoiled food or that we were unhappy…definitely NOT an ethical business AT ALL. The final straw? As we were leaving, no one could give a damn….the entire staff was busy watching a Cricket game on TV!! The whole experience was RIDICULOUS and A WASTE OF...
Read moreI used to live nearby back in 2015 so when I went to NYC again this March I wanted to stop by and grab some things for nostalgia. At first the signs are not really clear with saying it's on the second floor but it's not unless you dine in so make sure to check that.
Just for background sakes I'm a native Hindi speaker who has lived in India for years and is very familiar with the cuisine.
At first they tired to make me buy more food than I wanted and explain to me everything which just wasted my time, but I ended up I just ordering one chicken roll and 4 chicken kababs. Then I asked them to put it in the box instead of wrapping everything in aluminum foil cause I was flying back in a couple of hours. That's when the owner or some one came up and talked to the server behind the counter. He made fun of me in Hindi assuming I won't understand but I did and I felt extremely humiliated. I did only converse in English at the shop but I felt discriminated and extremely uncomfortable.
First they wrapped everything foil so didn't even pay attention to what I asked and the food was also very bland, I could get better food at the frozen section at any Indian store. The "Karhi roll" was just a piece of naan with lettuce and a chicken kababs. And the kababs were really bland and oily.
And when I went to pay I had to wait cause the lady was taking some call and paid zero attention to me which was really unprofessional. The ambience is average it felt old and dated without if the staff being rude.
Overall I would not suggest this place and I'm definitely not coming back ever. I would give it zero stars if possible but don't waste your time here there are better places just ...
Read moreWent there expecting something good but this place turned out to be the worst experience so far in a place which is famous for Indo-Pakistani food. The place is dirty and so are the people handling food. I saw one of the people who handle the food at the front area squat a fly with his hands while wearing the gloves that are meant to serve the food (yes there were flies!). He obviously thought nobody noticed him but I had been standing there waiting for someone to attend me and take my order for take-out. When nobody seemed interested in taking my order, I asked the bearded man at the front area (who seemed like the head chef) a question about one of the dishes. He very rudely said something that I couldn't make sense of. I was taken aback by his rude response but thought I would give it another try and asked him again. This guy kept ignoring me for sometime and when I kept standing there and asked again, he very rudely replied "how many times do I have to tell you we don't serve that dish". I mentioned that it was listed on there menu (!!) but he again started ignoring me and started talking to his staff (probably making fun of me! LOL). While all this was happening, I took a good look around and silently thanked this guy because of whom I decided not to buy food from there (this place is like a dungeon, smelling bad, dirty, unhygienic, barely any space to sit with waiters walking all over you, and rudest of people working there. I went there expecting authentic food and experience but came out wondering how in the name of God they are still in business. Never going there again and wouldn't...
