El Viejo Yayo — Restaurant in New York

I don't normally write reviews, but I'm damn dissapointed with my recent experience. I've gone there many times, & its gettibg worse & worse- tonight was my worst. We sat down, seeing how no one approached after 10 minutes we had to ask for menu. Ten more & I had to let the waitress passing by us that we're ready. In the abscence of our waitress it was another half an hour when I asked the guy in black hat if we can have a bread basket & the jerk snapped at me!! Pointing his finger that "ok you're just gonna have to wait for the bread give us a minute". Table behinds us came in 15 minutes after us, but he gave them bread before us, on purpose?? Haha I dont know- but what was evident was his dirty look he gave me when he walked by me...When our food finally came out, the table behind us should have been served next! But instead the table after them got served. Needless to say table behind us left. The only good waiter there is a bit elder than rest with white shirt, the moment you sit he comes with menu AND bread basket which helps if food is going to be 50 minutes late!!! I definitely sat in wrong section to be ignored and disrespected- prices went up, food was meh, not like before with WOW latin flavor, their seasoning is not the same. What happened to the sazon??? Miss the old Yayos, now it sucks. After aaaaall these bad reviews and unsatisfied custoners: Get a clue and get...

Very mediocre Dominican food if I have to be honest. I took the chance of trying this place out as I always passed by it and my family showed interest in trying it out. So one evening we decided to do so (delivery) and we knew we made a mistake.

The food was lukewarm upon arrival even for how fast it arrived. The fast delivery had given me high hopes but the lukewarm food was a scary sign. The Churrasco (Skirt Steak) I ordered tasted cheap and felt like it had been boiled then thrown on the grill to give it grill marks.

It was bleeding water, not blood because I ordered it medium well, but water--. I have never seen anything like that before. It just tells me it was cheap skirt steak which I should expect from spots like this, but there are spots just like this that cook up the best skirt steak or steak in general they can with what they got. I had white rice and red beans which were standard, red beans could have used a little more flavor.

The entire meal itself just did not sit well with me and felt like I just wasted my money on very subpar food. Maybe seeing how empty the place was whenever I passed by it should have warned me, but hey to know if a restaurant is good or not you need to take a chance and check it out for yourself. Sadly, this place missed the mark.

Hopefully, they'll make changes and step their A game when I decide to give them...

I never had a real issue with this restaurant until today. I ordered two meals and only received one. My boyfriend called the restaurant, they apologized and said they'd deliver the missing item. Almost an hour passes and nothing. He calls the restaurant, woman tells him the order is outside. He goes outside, nothing. Then she calls back with a whole attitude, saying the driver has been sitting outside calling and texting with no answer, and that he's going to get a ticket. Umm...yeah, no.. We received no call or text. My boyfriend goes outside AGAIN. Nothing. He walks up and down the block. Nothing. The audacity. First of all, we frequently order from this restaurant. We live a quick 5 minute drive from the restaurant. We should have gotten that order within 30 minutes. And what kind of driver doesn't knock on the door or ring the doorbell if they cant get in touch with their customer? Seems to me they just didn't want to deliver the order they messed up on. A little advice El Viejo? Train your employees on how to speak to and treat your customers. Your employee was spoken to with kindness and respect the entire time and we were not given that in return. We will not be sending any more business your way nor will our family and friends....
