ELIS WINE BAR & RESTAURANT — Restaurant in New York

This is one of THE best in NYC! My daughter and son In law live nearby and they know good food- they also know that Eli’s has the most wonderful owners- and staff - It’s their go to favorite place and mine too As a baby boomer Mom who lives in NJ, it’s an easy drive and I always find side street parking / also you can use spot hero! Now to the 5 star +++ review- I’d give it 100 stars It is such a welcoming place sitting indoors or outside! It’s like Home!!! The VERY BEST food - from appetizers ( I love the bruschetta) to salads( yummy Greek salad) to the finest delicious entrees - tonight I had the swordfish special! Cooked to perfection with luscious potatoes- green beans and heirloom tomatoes My adult son joined us all tonight for a relaxing get together- he loves Eli’s And doesn’t miss an opportunity to dine at Eli’s even though he lives all the way downtown He is a world traveler and just finds the ambience so relaxing! And the food so good By the way , the homemade desserts are scrumptious Trust that the menu can change because they only serve THE freshest of food Call ahead if you want to be sure your favorites are on the menu! But trust if they are not, you will find tasty treats

It’s a wine bar and it’s the only place I have a cocktail! Often we celebrate birthdays at Eli’s as Elis (owner) makes it do special I enjoy their aperol spritzers! We spent 4 hours there! Music started with a band my kids said is quite well known Just do much fun In these trying times, with so many uncertainties, you can be CERTAIN that you will have a wonderful yummy satisfying time - at Eli’s pretend you are on vacation in Italy -late lunch -dinner -drinks after dinner treats

As soon as I walked into Elis Wine Bar last night, I knew it would be a lovely evening. Aside from the restaurant being aesthetically beautiful, the vibe was very energetic and happy - everyone was eating, laughing, drinking good wine and thoroughly enjoying themselves. The service was extremely hospitable and kind, Artur and Elis (the owners) truly went above and beyond to make my first time at their restaurant very special! I am a seafood lover and Artur made the best food recommendations based on my palate. We started with the oysters and Artur delicately and skillfully prepared and seasoned it for me at table side! I also tried the ceviche and it melted like butter in my mouth lol, it was so delicious! For the entree Artur recommended the Branzino and it was prepared and seasoned to perfection! For wine we had a bottle (or 2, lol) of red, the L'Atto Cantine del Notaio which was excellent! I'm a red wine lover and i never follow the rules when it comes to food pairings lol. Elis was kind enough to make sure that my wine glass was refilled when the wine was running low lol. I will certainly return soon, I am already craving the oysters, the food and the attention! The food was fine, nothing to write home about. We were seated at 5.30pm. Our server let us know she was not usually on service staff, she usually "runs music" for the restaurant. We placed our order probably around 5.40pm. We ordered 3 glasses of wine, 1 beer, 2 apps, and 4 mains. The drinks and apps came out quickly. Then started the waiting game for our main course. We had an event to get to and ideally wanted to leave by 6.30pm. We were never checked on. I had to wave down the server to ask about our meal. No apology, she only said "well we're really busy right now." It's a Friday night...if you can't handle people eating at your restaurant on a weekend, maybe don't seat so many people. Aside from that, I've been at way busier restaurants where the food comes out in a timely manner. We had to ask after our food multiple times and explain that we had an event to go to. We kept hearing "two more minutes." We NEVER got an apology from the staff. We then had to scarf down our food. Willing to bet they completely forgot about our order and started making it after we first inquired. Do not waste your time (literally).
