The only thing that kept me living in the neighborhood as long as I did was Fazio’s - no joke. Every week for years, my husband and I would walk 15 minutes each way, passing several pizzerias along the way, just to get a grandma pie from Fazio’s. Even in the bitter cold, it was worth the trek - no other place in North Brooklyn compares.
The ingredients are fresh, their staff is incredibly welcoming, and everything is cooked to perfection. All of my life, I had a strict “NY-style pizza or bust” attitude, and while Fazio’s Neapolitan Pie is one of the best NY-style regular round pies I’ve ever had, they really shine with their grandma and Sicilian pies. I prefer the Grandma pie for the flavor and the thin crust, but if you really want to get your money’s worth, their Sicilian pie could probably feed you for a week - that thing is like 10 pounds and deliciously doughy with the right amount of sauce and cheese.
The owner, Santo, is probably the hardest working man in Brooklyn. You’ll catch him doing everything from prepping and baking pies, to all things front-of-house. He always made us feel like family - if anything, I felt embarrassed by how often we frequented the place, because he shouted “Chelsey and Jim!” every time we walked in, haha.
We moved to Long Island about a month ago and I am having serious Fazio’s withdrawal. Once we get a car, I’ll be stopping by again before promptly getting the hell out of Bushwick and onto the Jackie Robinson.
Thank you, Fazio’s and Santo, for keeping us fed for so many years. We miss...
Read moreVisited for the first time last week for lunch after moving to the neighborhood. I lived next to Joe's pizza prior to moving here, so I was looking for a go to place to grab a solid slice. Customer service was good, the guy at the window and I talked for a bit and he thanked me for supporting the business. I brought home nearly one of every slice for my partner and I to try. Price is a bit steep if I'm honest, it's hard to swallow spending $4.75 on a slice, but ingredient quality seemed appropriate. The scicillian was a bit dry, but tasty and the pepperoni were my favorite type. If it was fresher it would of been ideal. The grandma was a bit overpowering with garlic, and I love garlic. Grandma slices are my normal go to, but it won't be here. Mushroom and spinach slices were good. And BY FAR the best was the special slice with the olives, sopresata, and onions. OH MY.... seriously so good if you like olives. That's a must try. Price point makes it less of a daily staple, but I will definitely be back for much more. Especially the olive slice. Keep it up and good luck in...
Read moreThis rating is for their delivery and it’s a terrible experience. I just ordered a cheese pizza with some added sausage, onions and mushroom. Upon delivery their delivery man wouldn’t ring the doorbell even when I asked and he said he didn’t understand English so wouldn’t even try so I went downstairs to get it which is not the worst. The worst part is when I open the box all the cheese and toppings already completely slid onto one side of the box and the whole bottom of the pizza is completely soggy from the cheese water, and also couldn’t really taste any flavor from the tomato sauce since it is also diluted by the melted cheese water. You can see in the close up picture the cheese water + tomato sauce made pools of liquid on top of the pizza which half slid onto the bottom making the pizza wet.
Overall just felt like eating soggy bread and cheese with some wet toppings. Maybe it’s better to get it directly in store but I don’t recommend their pizza...
