Let’s go #ShopSmall this summer with @americanexpress and explore small businesses in Brooklyn! #AmexAmbassador #ad Whenever possible, I love supporting small businesses as these establishments are often the character of a neighborhood. What is your favorite small business in NYC? Mentioned in the video: For The Record: a coffee shop that doubles as a record store La Nature: a store that offers plastic-free, eco-friendly, sustainable everyday essentials Books Are Magic: a beloved independent bookstore that offers a range of interesting and hard-to-find books

When you come here you are guaranteed to walk out with a smile. The owner, Lucas, is such a genuine human being and you can tell by the way he greets you & the way he remembers you from the moment you walk in. Our recent trip was for Record Store Day, a day that is very fun but almost guaranteed to be hectic. Not only did Lucas organize a special day so well, but he also made it enjoyable, and 'for the community'. I really appreciate and respect how he makes everyone feel. Being able to experience it myself as a happy customer, but also to witness it from everyone who comes in. Not to mention, the beverages and coffee being a great additional touch to the wide range of records available to browse. Today was really great, and so is every time that I come to this spot. Definitely check it out when you get the chance. And Lucas, thanks for making this spot so great.

For the Record in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, is a hidden gem that effortlessly blends an eclectic vibe with top-notch culinary delights. The highlight of my visit was undoubtedly the velvety Matcha cake, a perfect balance of rich flavor and light texture that left a lasting impression. The coffee here is excellent, brewed to perfection and ideal for a relaxed afternoon or a quick caffeine fix. What truly sets For the Record apart is its unique vinyl collection. I found myself lost in the music, sifting through an impressive array of records that cater to all tastes. This place exudes a distinct edge, with an atmosphere that's both welcoming and refreshingly different. Whether you're a music lover, a coffee aficionado, or just someone looking for a cool spot to unwind, For the Record is a must-visit.

I never leave reviews but we haven’t stopped talking about this place since we tried it so.

We were visiting from Boston. My boyfriend played a show down the street the night before so we stayed at a hotel nearby as well. The next morning I was on yelp trying to find good coffee when I realized we had parked right across from For the Record. Took a chance and was delighted at how cute the spot was — coffee shop in front and record store in the back, skateboards as shelves, pastel colors. The owner was the barista and he was playing Illmatic on the record player which really just made me feel like it was a true New York Sunday morning. We tried the vegan blueberry muffin and it rocked. The coffee though. Absolutely exceptional. I ordered an iced lavender latte but really wish I had just gotten a plain latte because the coffee was so good on its own. I was so impressed by the coffee that I had to ask where the beans were from and the owner told me he roasts his own. He definitely knows what he’s doing. I overheard him say he had only been open for just a few months and I truly wish him nothing...

Went to a listening party here yesterday and I was pretty disappointed by the overall service. I walked in and asked for a tea, and Lucas responded bluntly that the kitchen was closed literally right after handing someone a drink. The audio was horrible and I could barely hear the album; for a record store, why is your only audio two desktop speakers standing at hip-level? It was also extremely hot inside. Finally, when I was leaving they were giving out stickers from the artist and I came up to get one and Lucas looked at me blankly and asked what I wanted. I asked for a sticker and he said he was out. When looking at someone else's sticker, it was actually 2 on one page. If you have over 40 attendees and limited stickers, why are you giving out doubles? Maybe I was unlucky yesterday but I had a poor experience. That being said, the folks at the event were awesome! Will not be...
