Me and 3 of my friends wanted to try this restaurant after seeing it on Instagram. We thought others would think the same, so we ended up making a reservation for 8:30 on a Saturday night, easy right? No, absolutely not. We arrived at the restaurant 10 minutes prior to our reservation and instantly I knew something was wrong. On a busy and quite literally freezing Saturday night, the entire front of the restaurant was packed to the brim to get away from the cold. It was odd how many people were packed in there waiting. We went in to inquire and let the waitress know about the reservation, however they didn't have tables available. At first we believed it would be fine as we arrived 10 minutes early, at 8:20, and maybe they didn't have any tables yet, so we waited outside. After waiting for about 30 minutes and multiple more tries, we went inside under the enclosed foyer to try and stay a bit warm. The foyer had tables and heaters, but it just served as a intermission room for all of the other people waiting. We overheard others talking about reservations so I asked when their reservation was for. Every single party waiting with us had a 8:30 reservation, and none of us had been seated. We didn't enter the restaurant until well after 9:30, over an hour of us waiting, and some of the other hungry and cold customers around us had waited for even longer. To make things worse, after acknowledging our reservation many times, and dealing with our slightly irritated and hangry moods, they still decided to seat a group of 3 girls who had arrived late to their 8:30 reservation (around 8:45) at a table for 4, almost 30 minutes before we had been seated (we were a group of 4). They completely ignored us even after many times of confrontation. Overall, my mood at the restaurant wasn't that great after we had been waiting in the cold because of their mistake. They didn't offer us anything, or even an apology for THEIR mistake. The food was alright, nothing special and definitely not great for the price and the portions. The service was horrible because of our wait, but on the other hand the atmosphere was pretty great, comfy and cozy, just a bit packed. I absolutely urge anyone reading this to PLEASE visit a different restaurant as there are so many great restaurants even in the area of The Gnoccheria for the same price, or even cheaper. Don't let the social...
Read moreI will preface by saying I still tipped my server around 18% because I'm not a jerk.
The food was ok. The service was meh. Could've been better. I got the tri gnocchi plate. For $42, I don't think it was worth it. It's not much more gnocci than if you order your own plate, and the only one with flavor is the red sauce /mozz. The white sauce gnocci, and pesto hardly had any taste. I had to add a good amount of salt and parmesan to bring out the flavor a bit more.
I don't know if my order was pre-made, if I was given an order that had been sitting in the back or something, but when it came it me, the pasta waslukewarm, the white sauce and pesto sauce were a bit separated, and the cheese in the red sauce was clumpy. It's supposed to pull. I know this because the people sitting directly to my right ordered the same exact thing. Their came steaming, the white sauce was creamy instead of grainy, and the cheese had a wonderful pull.
I also ordered the dessert fried gnoccie with chocolate. Let me tell you, those suckers were so hard I had to ask the server if they had been sitting out or were reheated before being served to me. It was making my jaw sore to chew even a few of them. He said there was nothing he could do, and that that's how they're made.
Bill was 61 for those 2 items. Maybe if they value you as a customer, they will serve you better food, but me personally, I will not be back.
I also have a "sneaking suspicious " that being the only poc person in the restaurant plus dining alone, may have led them to overlook how they treated me. Even if they didn't notice (which is possible). I say this because, when I asked for a container for my pasta, a server brought one over, he brought a cup, he wanted me to put all 3 different kinds of pasta into a cup. Why would he do that? I had to ask for a proper to go container so I could pack the food properly. Then he just set it all on the table for me to do myself. But once again, the people next to me asked for a container as well, and a server came and packaged everything for them nice n tidy. It wasn't a big deal in the moment, but it was multiple moments like this throughout my dining experience that made me feel undervalued as a customer,...
Read moreExcept for the actually gnocchi .. my husband and I had the WORST experience here ...
We were so excited to come here since we had seen it on Facebook and read a few good reviews .. so we made a reservation for 7:30 .. got there around 7:15 .. figured we would have to wait til 7:30 to be sat ... 7:45 rolls by .. nothing .. so my husband asks the host if they had reserved a table for us to sit at ( since we both work at restaurant the correct reservation protocol is to block off tables a half hour ahead of time ) her response was “yeah but we don’t know how long other reservations before yours will be eating for , so.. “ this was strike number one.
We finally got sat at 8-8:15.. already knowing what we want , we ordered two Caesar salads and a cheese filled gnocchi ( that was more like a pierogi) .
The salad came out a little dry so both my husband and I asked for more dressing .. 15 minutes later and the server came out with mayonnaise ... I informed him that it was mayo and I wanting caesar dressing for my Caesar salad ( I specified because our servers English wasn’t very good I thought maybe he didn’t understand at first) .. he came out 15 minutes later again saying that the chef said that is all the dressing they have and nothing else ... you mean to tell me that you just put mayo on your Caesar salads ? I don’t think so ... absolutely confused we just sent the salads back and ordered another pasta dish and bread .
Bread came out and I asked for butter .. which they said they didn’t have .. even going there is a butter&sage sauce as an option for gnocchi ... you figure that one out ...
Pasta was delicious .. I’ll give that to them .
Service was horrendous , absolutely horrible .
get servers that know what their doing and understand what your saying...
