Connelly Theater — Attraction in New York

I saw "Circle Jerk" here, late night show, on Saturday. The theater is very comfortable for an off-off-Broadway venue. The staff is pleasant. The show was great. So, why only three stars?

Because the COVID safety policy is clearly enforced in an "all animals are created equal but some animals are more equal than others" way. Almost the entire audience was respectful of the posted policy and was masked. Almost. Who wasn't masked? The "special guest celebrity" and his friends, who sat behind me and basically acted like they were in a VIP section.

Maybe my understanding of virus transmission is wrong and appearing on a Netflix TV show does, in fact, make you immune to COVID and immune to spreading it, but in the absence of that data I am highly critical that the staff does not treat its guests the same when we are all...

Groovy old venue used by multiple theater companies - the seats are not particularly comfortable but it's a good size space where no seat is really too far from the stage. I have seen Arts Nova, Bedlam and fringe shows here - for some reason - maybe it's the aura of the space itself - they have all been great. School style bathroom stalls in public hallway make for easy access without having to climb stairs to use...

A cool little venue. I saw the crucible here. The audience is seated on the original stage and the play unfolds around you and down below where the audience would traditionally sit. It mirrors the look and layout of the courtroom in the movie really well. The actors were great and there were a lot of interesting creative interpretations of the original script to make it...
