Golden Corner Noodles 黄金角 (温州小池) — Restaurant in New York

Golden Corner is a hidden gem in Flushing if you're craving authentic Wenzhou cuisine. I ordered takeout and tried a variety of dishes — spareribs noodles, sweet sticky rice roll, cold soymilk, sweet potato noodle soup, and mock duck. The standout was definitely the spareribs noodles: the broth was rich and flavorful, the meat tender, and the noodles had that perfect bouncy texture.

The sweet sticky rice roll was a real treat — it’s only available on certain mornings, and I now understand why it's so popular. The mix of sticky rice, crispy youtiao, dried shrimp, scallion, and soy sauce was simple but packed with umami and texture. The sweet potato noodles had a light, comforting flavor, and the mock duck was well-seasoned and satisfying.

This spot feels like a culinary trip to coastal China. The menu is vast and filled with dishes you won’t find at typical Chinese-American restaurants. Kane's is my usual go to diner in Queens. They have a parking lot outside, which is something great for those of you who hate finding street parking. It's open 24 hours a day so it's good for late dinners or even later cravings.

The decor is a little retro with their diner set up. It's kind of average but I don't really go to this place for the ambiance. They can seat large groups with no wait and will readily assemble tables in the corner for your party. One time, I went there with a group of 26 and they were able to accommodate us.

Their menu is kind of all over the place and is set up like a scrap book. Once you figure out how to navigate it, you'll find that they have a ton of diner favorites as options. I usually order one of the sweeter breakfasts items that come with bacon/eggs. As for price, this place is pretty affordable. A meal for two people will usually come out to under $30. So I’ve been missing Szechuan Capital since it closed many years ago but their beef with noodle in soup was the best. Golden Corner’s beef with noodle in soup was excellent, as well as the spare ribs with noodle in soup. These two have completely different flavors and they are equally delicious. See photos. (Ok so I’m all about the food, but took off one star because there ain’t nothing fancy ‘bout this place. It’s tiny w/ one table in the vestibule but I’d say it’s takeout only lol.
