Very nice dim sum and Cantonese food! I’ve been twice so far and will be going frequently. I like it quite a bit more than the large Canto restaurants in the south of the neighborhood. Here’s my notes on the dishes:
Har gow and siu mai - both very nice clean, fresh, balanced flavor Cha siu bao - average Chicken feet way above average in NYC Beef tendon - tender, nice flavor (collagen supplement!) Gai lan - tasty and bright Stuffed eggplant dim sum - yummy fried eggplant with flavorful pork filling Fried chive dumplings - crispy with great flavor Lobster fried rice - splurge but perfectly executed with sweet and tender lobster and crispy rice Rice roll w beef - about average Fried Sesame mochi balls - crispy, nutty, tender inside. Fun dish Roast Duck - pretty tasty - crispy skin and juicy meat, though it would be nicer with a sauce (eg plum, tian mian)
Frequency of carts is good, rarely more than a few minutes between them. Much shorter waits between carts than the big places.
The strong smell of sterno is off-putting at first, and it’s always there, but you get used to it (not sure if a...
Read moreI was genuinely impressed by this restaurant. The ingredients were incredibly fresh, and the pricing was very fair—definitely honest and transparent.
That said, the place is very popular, so service was a bit slow, likely due to not having enough staff to keep up with the crowd. My table didn’t get much attention, which was a bit disappointing.
If you don’t speak Chinese, you might miss out—some of the best dishes are only listed on the Chinese menu. I highly recommend bringing a friend who speaks Cantonese to unlock the full food experience.
I ordered the daily special lobster (not on the menu!), and it was amazingly fresh—better than any lobster I’ve had at other restaurants. I also tried the stir-fried beef ho fun, which takes serious skill to perfect. The beef was tender and flavorful, the veggies had that perfect wok hei, and the rice noodles had just the right chewiness. You can really taste the chef’s technique and control of the heat.
With this level of quality and such reasonable prices, I’ll definitely be back. Highly...
Read moreI recently visited Golden Seafood Palace, and the experience was disappointing. The food came out far too quickly, leaving us feeling rushed instead of relaxed. On top of that, many of the dishes were much too salty, which made it hard to truly enjoy. The service only added to the frustration. Our waiter was rude and dismissive, offering little patience when we asked questions and making the atmosphere uncomfortable.Between the salty food, rushed pace, and poor service, Golden Seafood Palace did not live up to expectations. I left feeling unwelcome and would not recommend it to others. To make things worse, the waiter brought me the bill even though I was not finished eating, which felt rude and dismissive. I don’t recommend Golden...
