Grand Republic Cocktail Club — Restaurant in New York

On first glance, the interior of the GRCC is warm, with brown wood countertops and floors giving a classic and distinguished air to the establishment, and anyone who loves a good maritime theme will have a ball here. The bartender Jay was delightful and welcoming, with a great knowledge of the drink menu, and a skill for crafting cocktails and engaging customers at the same time. I hate giving bad reviews but it was a really horrible experience. The bar was very sticky when we sat down. There were flies on all the garnishes and open sodas to top cocktails (pic attached). The bartender was nice but the drinks were not good. The nail in the coffin was when a HUGE rat the size of a chihuahua ran from the back of the bar out the open front door. After 2 sips we paid and left...

Great cocktails in a nicely done space, with lots of outdoor seating. The whiskey-cranberry sauce cocktail I had was one of the best drinks I’ve had in the last 6 months, it was quite the happy surprise!
