I ordered a large dirty chai latte (listed for 5.50$) to which the cashier unsolicited added an extra espresso shot. I asked why Iâm being charged an espresso shot when the latte itself should already have espresso in it. She gave some nonsensical excuse about how they need to add espresso to the dirty chai latte because it comes as a chai latte and to make it dirty they add espresso, I realized this young girl didnât know what I was talking about when I asked her about the price of adding an extra espresso shot so I asked her again why they list their dirty chai latte as 5.50$ when they are in fact charging 8$ for it. I donât care that itâs 8$ but they should list it as such. She continued with the same response without any real clarification.
When I approached the second employee once I received my coffee, the second employee told me the same but did mention that the latte already comes with 2 espresso shots. So again I asked why Iâm being charged for an extra shot when I didnât ask for one and the drink already comes with 2 shots. She insisted that the cash register system needs to include the extra shot because they donât have dirty chai on the register - a regular chai latte + the extra espresso shot is how they price their dirty chai lattes that automatically take the charge from 5.50$ to 8.17$ on the register but not on the menu, so I told her that they overcharged me for something I didnât ask and didnât expect. She asked me why I didnât bring this issue up before and both myself and the other employee said that I had in fact brought it up. They never acknowledged the employee made a mistake and insisted we were all on the same page to begin with which isnât even true. They then were both extremely rude to me and scoffed when I said I doing in fact want the money I paid back, and then mockingly said to me that all of the other customers pay this price (even though theyâre over charging for something not even included on the menu).
Poor customer service, no accountability and over all lack of professionalism. Iâm surprised that these two young women did not know the basic understanding of using a cash register or how to fix their own mistakes without berating a customer. Anyways I will definitely not be coming back.
The dirty chai latte also didnât even taste good it was overly sweet and over powering taste of either nutmeg or allspice. The Chai Spot in the lower east side has a better chai latte if youâre looking for the perfect blend of...
Read moreThis is the third Grizzly Coffee location that recently opened in Brooklyn. While the first two locations have their own charm and warmth, this new location has a style all it's own. It is roughly twice the size of the other two locations and includes several features that make this one truly unique. Upon entering, one is greeted with a two-person swing and living room sofa that gave this place playful vibes. The walls were hand-painted with huge colorful murals and the ceiling was decorated with wooden planks that had hanging vines that gave it a warm and woodsy feeling. Visitors had a choice of sitting at round tables on soft mats or rectangular tables on hard wooden chairs. There were ample power outlets for those like me who like to use their laptops while savoring Grizzly's flavorful coffee. The food menu reflected the usual food items found at the other Grizzly locations, but due to it being in a neighborhood high in Southeast Asians, there were additional food items that catered to that population. My daughter tried the Pakistani Anday Wala Burger and she said it was tasty. The menu also included chicken puff pastry and panipuri which is a snack originating from India. This location also offered unique southeast Asian drinks including various chais such as masala chai and kahwah dhood pathi chai. I have visited this location three times already and it is always busy with a variety of clientele. It looks like it may become the owner's...
Read moreI visited this small, charming coffee shop for brunch with friends. Though the space is cozy, they offer a few hot food options along with a variety of teas, coffees, and desserts. We tried the lavender latte, Pakistani chai, and mango refresherâall of which were enjoyable.
For appetizers, we had the pani puri, which was flavorful, but unfortunately, some of the puris were cracked. The stuffed chicken pastry served with green chutney on the side was delicious, with a hint of spice.
For the entrĂŠe, we ordered the Pakistani burger, which had a good taste. However, Iâd suggest adding lettuce instead of the cabbage leaf, which didnât quite match the burger.
For dessert, we tried the chocolate cake slice and the tres leches pistachio slice. While the chocolate cake was nice, the tres leches didnât live up to expectations. It felt more like a regular vanilla cake drizzled with condensed milk and topped with pistachio cream, and I couldnât really taste the pistachio. Additionally, it didnât seem very fresh.
One fun feature is that they have traditional Pakistani games available, so while you sit, you can enjoy playing them with friends.
Overall, Iâd return for the coffee and pani puri, but the other items werenât...
