I love bagels and it's been awhile since I had eaten any. I live really close to this bagel store and decided to pop in one day. They had 3-4 people on staff and one person who was eating their order inside the store. They have a few tables that allows people to eat their food or wait until their order is ready.
This was my first time at this location and I was unsure of the ordering process. I waited until someone was free and ordered an everything bagel toasted with cream cheese. The bagel itself was okay but, nothing noteworthy. The bagel tasted fresh but, not just baked today fresh. I didn't like how hastily and lopsided the bagel was creamed. I felt like the store was pretty much empty and the staff was basically just talking to each other that they would put more effort into their work. I thought it was an okay bagel for $3.
Also, they do charge extra for using a credit card. When I went to pay for my order the guy said there was an extra charge for using a credit card.
I placed an order for pick up through Uber Eats. I had ordered 12 bagels (and got 2 free) and they completely messed up my order. I ordered 2 plain and 12 whole wheat everything bagels. I got 5 plain bagels and 9 random bagels (only one was an everything bagel and not even whole wheat). I felt like if they ran out of bagels, they could have waited until I got there or at least me know when I got there. Again, when I went to pick up my order the entire store was completely empty and the store was fully staffed (at least 4 people behind the counter chatting with each other). The bagels were also the same as before tasty but, not exactly freshly daily baked.
They also sell sandwiches, hot food such as wings, smoothies, and brand...
Read moreCurrent review: I am grateful for Highway Bagels! Why the change? Because they worked with me to make changes so that I can better interact with them as a person who is visually impaired. As is often the case, improvements specific to disability often help everyone! The staff now notice who comes into the bagel shop. They recognize me as a regular and personalize the experience by verbally welcoming me when I go to the pickup area. They hand me my daily order and are friendly. Well done Highway Bagels! As my NYU backed AI startup continues to help businesses improve their customer experience by mapping their spaces, I will proudly include Highway Bagels so that more customers with disabilities order from Highway Bagels! I have already been posting on Instagram about this and social media influencers in the visually impaired community are taking notice of Highway Bagels.
Prior review: Many staff do not recognize me even though I order for pick up up 7 days a week and I use a cane because I am visually impaired. Some staff also use hand signals to communicate and I can not see those. Often the order is marked at complete before I get there, which makes it harder since the Doordash screen with the button to show to restaurant goes way and I have to search through orders to find ihe order. Many staff wil walk right bay the pickup area even while I am standing there. My son loves their food so I will keep ordering even though this place is unfriendly to people whoa re visually impaired. Hopefully they will improve their customer service for the benefit of the many people who are visually impaired, including the aging...
Read moreTHEY LOST ME AS A CUSTOMER. Great location, clean store, pleasant staff and overall nice place. However, for the price I pay for a baconeggandcheese, it’s irritating how the order gets messed up every single time I buy something.
A simple “bacon, egg and cheese on an everything bagel with ketchup and mayonnaise” shouldn’t be so complicated to understand. I repeat myself 2-3 times very clearly too and the staff would write it down so I think “awesome!” But I take the order home to notice something always missing or wrong. Sometimes the bagel is incorrect topping, sometimes there’s no ketchup, sometimes no mayonnaise, sometimes both aren’t there, but the last straw was when I received sausage instead of bacon and I hate sausage.
Instead of going back to complain, give the workers a hard time and embarrass myself, I rather not buy from them again. Imagine spending 20 minutes on a line and spending $6+ on a simple baconeggandcheese only to get it messed up every single time (not once or twice but every single time). If I have to spend time taking out sausage, adding ketchup or adding mayo, I might as well just run my own baconeggandcheese shop and make my own. Also, this is a good reminder to always check your order before you leave. I just didn’t feel comfortable opening and unwrapping a bagel in a busy store full of people and with my...
