We tried this restaurant shortly after they were opened. Ordered our food to go while sitting at the bar. Bartenders were very slow. We were waiting a long time without receiving our food order. The day bartender went off and the next bartender took over. After about 30 minutes we asked about our first of order. The new bartender stated he didn’t know and we have to ask the other bartender about o food order. Of course that person was gone! Eventually we were able to receive our food order after more than 40 minutes. When I checked the bag, I found we were missing items already paid for. Management at the bar did fill the order but the food received was now cold before we got home, only about 2 miles away.
My wife said we should give the place another chance since it was a new place only recently opened and probably had some kinks to work out. Some time later I went there for lunch and ordered a burger. The burger looked like a meatball on a stale bun and definitely over cooked. Still I don’t complain although I should have.
Let’s give it one mor chance, right!?
We stopped by for a late lunch two days ago. The bartender took her time greeting us as she was conversing wit the only other two people at the bar. Eventually she greeted us and presented menus. She did eventually take our drink orders. We ordered our meals, my wife ordered salmon and I ordered a PLAIN BURGER, cooked medium with no bacon or cheese or any other toppings. The bartender thanked us and left . We thought she put in our order when she returned and asked me “WHAT STEAK I ORDERED”, When I had to tell her I didn’t order steak but a plain burger. She laughed and then half heartedly apologized for the screw up.
We also ordered the soup of the day which was supposed to be chicken rice soup. It took over 15 minutes to receive the “SOUP OF THE DAY” which you would assume was ready to be served when ordered. Probably not made that day, but thanks for microwave ovens, but only assuming. As for our meal, my burger was over cooked and the bun stale, my wife said her salmon was not that good and the rice she ordered was not what she was served. The last joke to this place was when I received the check. I was charged for The HK Burger which has bacon, and cheese. I pointed this out to the bartender who stated that’s how the order shows up when entered into the system. I stated I was not about to pay for something I did not order. She took the check and after another ten minutes or so finally returned stating she voided the previous check and presented me with the correct check. Bottom line, three strikes your out! I see all the rave reviews for this place I I can only hope thes people try a really nice restaurant to see what quality and...
Read moreThis was my second time going here and I honestly didn’t love it the first time either but I’m big on trying things for a second time. This place gets this grade from me for the following reasons:
I ordered a lobster roll and it was absolutely terrible. I’m a pescatarian and obviously eat seafood including lobster often and this did not even taste or even texture of lobster. It was stringy and it had the taste of imitation crab. It was doused in this heavy sauce as if it was trying to make me forget I was supposed to be eating lobster.
I ordered a ceviche and was absolutely confused when I saw it. It resembled a shrimp cocktail with cold jumbo shrimp hanging the side of a large cocktail glass full of saucy liquid. I thought I had ordered a shrimp cocktail by mistake but then saw it advertised on the television exactly the same. I’ve never seen a ceviche like this where I had to fish (no pun intended) out the seafood from a full glass of sauce . I had to dump out the sauce to even see where the seafood was.
I was annoyed when I saw the bill that there was an up charge for paying with a card. I see that this is a trend in restaurants these days but there should be signs or I should be informed beforehand so I can make the decision if I want to continue to eat there and if I do, go take out cash from my bank ATM. I personally avoid these places who nickle and dime but if I wanted to really eat there, I would make the effort to take out the cash had I been properly informed prior.
I was so excited about the essential worker discount, but realized quickly the food was not worth it. In my excitement, I referred my mother to the restaurant before getting my meal as she is also an essential worker and she did not enjoy her food either. My father ordered the salmon and it was the smallest piece of salmon for $28.00, not to mention was overcooked and dry. My mother ordered mashed potatoes and had absolutely no flavor and tasted artificial. They were quite displeased and the manager did offer a free meal for the next time but they did not wish to come back even with this offer.
Now, I did give it two stars instead of one because the drinks were quite good. I liked the “Capri-Sun” style drinks that were tasty and were not cheap with the alcohol . The fries were also crunchy and seasoned adequately. Our waiter was also quite nice.
In conclusion, I probably would not return here again as the food was terrible, overpriced, with credit card surcharges, and mandatory gratuity for a party of two. However, if you’re not here for food and just looking for good drinks and a place to watch the game, this might be the...
Read moreMy husband and I came to this place for the first time last Wednesday. They had a delicious $16 wed steak special and we loved it! We came back again today for the same special. Only this time we had a different server and while she was very kind, she didn't seem to know the menu well, and she didn't seem to have very much training. We ordered the same Wednesday steak special. She said it did not come with sides when it did last week. Broccoli and potato wedges. To be clear I said, the steak is a la carte now and she said yes. So we each ordered a side of truffle fries and sweet potato fries. We waited for 2 draft beers for almost 15 minutes when there were only 2 other couples in the place. We got the beers and they were flat so we had cocktails (delicious btw). Then the food runner brought 2 salmon dinners out to us. We had to send them back for the steaks that DID in fact come with 2 sides (Broccoli and potatoes wedges). So we had 2 giant plates of fries that we did not need to order. I went to the restroom, and while I was in there she spoke to my husband and apologized for the service. Thanks for owning it! The kitchen team is FANTASTIC and the food is consistently delicious! These guys know how to temp a PERFECTLY medium steak. FIVE stars for the kitchen staff! Two stars for service. Three stars for atmosphere, only because the music selection was literally Ja Rule and Ashanti over and over again. Ugh! A modern Playlist would have been great, like last week.
We've decided to order their delicious food on Ubereats...
