A true throwback - down to the beer signs, the vibe, the wood paneled walls, the amazing bar owners. Entering this bar was like walking back in time to the bars of our youth (Boston & Albany areas) - long and narrow, neighborhood hang out. We wouldn't have been lucky to enter this oasis had it not been our recent trip to visit our son. He and his friends hang out at the Honore Club and he wanted us to see it. It was a Saturday night, the place was alive with 20 and 30 year olds hanging out and having fun. The second we walked in, I knew I would love it. But the icing on the cake is truly the owners, who are some of the nicest people we have met. They have turned this spot into a true throwback to years gone by where the neighborhood bar was an intricate part of everyday life. A place you felt right at home, a place where you could escape for a bit. I truly understand why our son and his friends enjoy the Honore Bar! Also, the backyard patio is such an amazing addition - we didn't have those in the 80s, but wish we did. Read moreJust left Honore Club for the second time in a row, unacknowledged. Two bartenders saw me and continued on with their conversation between the two of them. I just sat there, waiting, and didn’t even get so much as a glance by either.
I can’t help but see a racial element in this as the only black person in the bar. The last time this happened I was also with a black friend.
Very disappointing to feel ignored in this way in an otherwise diverse and accepting neighborhood.
