I loved every single thing about my stay here marathon weekend. It is centrally located to everything, and just a few steps from the midtown shuttle that takes you to athlete's village on race day, in front of the library. Lots of shopping and public transportation in the area, and I was able to grab a bus west of the park after the race that took me straight back here. Of course, you could choose to stay close to the finish line, but it is so crazy in that area after the race I am glad I did it this way. (You will also pay much more to stay in that area on race weekend). I got a room on the 14th floor with a double queen, and it was very quiet with plenty of space for one or two people. Little touches like a BIG streaming-enabled screen, vegan products, accessory shelves and space, a really clean little fridge, a Keurig with coffee (decaf and regular) and tea, an iron and board, bedside shelves and lots of lighting options made it so relaxing and lovely. WiFi and mobile keys worked great. Everything feels new and perfect, nothing shabby and SUPER clean! Elevator is super fast and the gym is really nice (just hot, needs a fan!) Everyone who worked at the front was so genuinely friendly and so helpful... I must especially give shout-outs to Shannon and Jennette! They were WONDERFUL. I asked where the ice machine was, and they said they don't have one, but offered to get me some from the kitchen. I explained that I bring a kiddie tub and I would need a lot because I sit in it after a race! They told me where I could buy it and offered to store it all for me. They got me whatever I needed all weekend. So nice!! I will stay here not only for races but whenever I am in New York. Thanks......
Read moreI am a current Hyatt explorist, and previous hyatt globalist. I have been part of their loyalty program for over 5 years.
My experience with this hotel's service this past week was among the worst I have experienced.
First, I requested early-check in at time of booking weeks ahead of the reservation. At time of arrival, I was notified that no rooms were currently available for early-check in, however I would be notified prior to standard check (4pm) in if one did become available. That is fine. Additionally, I was told that my room was upgraded to a higher floor, which I would receive by time of standard check-in. I was told that a room was being held for me on the 15th floor (high floor).
No notification received. I presented to the hotel at 4pm to check-in, only to find out that the previous room that was promised to me was somehow given up to another customer (somehow became occupied before 4pm - without notifying me), and was then downgraded down to a base room on lower level.
Despite discussion with the front desk about this situation and asking why I was not notified and actually downgraded, the response I received was: "there is nothing we can do for you and it is what it is". Even though there was clearly a note set aside for me by the previous front desk employee. Furthermore, the staff was then short, rude, and did not seem to care whatsoever.
I have spent tens of thousands of dollars at Hyatt properties and have been a status member for an extended period of time. There is no reason that this should ever happen.
If you are looking to stay at Hyatt property in NYC, look elsewhere. There are multiple reviews on here supporting their poor...
Read moreStay at a different Hyatt. TLDR: service here can be immensely improved, this is just a 2-3 star hotel under the guise of a 4 star Hyatt.
Service: during my stay, I had the globalist guest of honor applied during my reservation. One would expect late check in, waters free of charge, breakfasts, and late check out. First of all, I had to ASK them during check in for the breakfast information. They were about to hand me the key without explaining anything about the facility (which they did not after I asked but I was too tired from my flight to ask where their fitness center was located). I got into my room and called down for some more waters because my guest and I were in need of more, the front desk didn't understand my question for some reason, which I then had to explain word by word what I wanted. She ended my call with "it's the end of my shift I'm sending it up to you no charge good night". I called them another time to follow up to make sure my late check out time was still set at the time I wanted to leave for the airport, they got confused and said I would be charged an extra $100. When I corrected them saying I shouldn't have been charged, they simply said "never mind we found your globalist benefits". No apologies.
Rooms: only giving the stars for the comfy beds. Bathroom doors don't shut completely, water temp is strange (it's either cold or HOT), etc. The one day we wanted housekeeping to come in to flip the room over, they didn't show up. Not to mention the crumbs I spotted when I first checked into my room.
Night shift front desk needs extra training on how to speak...
