Last night six of my friends and I came to JOE G for the first time. We were attending a concert at Carnegie Hall last night, and this seemed like the perfect location since it’s only a block or two from the theater. I had read some good reviews so I told all my friends this would be the best place to go. We were all extremely happy with our experience at JOE G!
There was a very nice man who greeted us outside, and then our waiter said his name is Uncle Tony. He was fantastic! We all opted for the price fix dinner (only $29.99). It came with your choice of first course... either mussels with marinara sauce (which I got and it was scrumptious and plentiful), or scallops wrapped in prosciutto. Then you choose a main course from salmon picatta (I chose this, and it was amazing! They came with sliced beans and sliced carrots and also artichoke hearts, and the piccata sauce was lemony and buttery and add capers and it was just off the charts delicious, and the salmon was so moist and perfectly cooked it was probably the best salmon I’ve ever had), pork chop stuffed with cheese ( my friends got this and said it was absolutely delicious!), or a chicken dish. Then you get your choice of dessert (cannoli, tiramisu, panna cotta (like a flan), or ice cream. I had the cannoli and it was perfect, and one of my friends said that it was the best tiramisu they’ve ever had !
Everyone loved everything that they got. This is a lot of high quality food for $29.99 and it was all absolutely delicious! I’m Italian so I know good Italian food. By the way, did I mention they give you baskets of warm bread and warm garlic knots with the meal also!
The restaurant is beautiful, the service is warm and fun and unrushed, and the food is absolutely delicious. If you’re going to Carnegie Hall I cannot imagine a better place to have dinner before the show. We will definitely all be coming back here as soon as possible.
Big thank you to everyone at Joe...

Read moreFood: Veal - 2 thinly sliced pieces of veal topped with prochuitto, then a slice of fried eggplant, topped with tomato sauce and mozz; it was pretty good, though it was on the saltier side (probably from the procuiotto), and the sauce was fairly salty as the main flavor Sea bass - very good - moist, tender, and flaky; it came topped with a light red sauce Salmon pasta - it tasted good, but there were only a few pieces of small salmon cubes in the sauce; I think you'd get more value by ordering an entree with a pasta as your side
Entrees come with a side - choice of roasted potatoes (a few russet? potatoes cut in half, I was told it was good by the person in my group who ordered it), pasta (any kind - I got rigatoni which was cooked just right), mixed veggies, mashed potato
Complimentary bread - slice white baguette, it was slightly toted which was nice; and they bring a large bottle of olive oil and balsamic to the table for you to use immediately
Service: it was a bit mixed - the waiter asked what side, but then was a bit hand wavy about the options (he mention some of them for me, then when the next person order he said some other items also); he was also a bit brusque when asking us to move the bread plate for him; and for one person who was away, he just didn't bother and put the entree in front of the empty seat; the busboy was very good with the water/bread/coffee...
