I’ve only ever been to this place twice and both experiences weren’t pleasant. Service was terrible, took them 10 min to serve me in an empty store. Food was alright, you get what you pay for. However, just two days ago a friend of mine who also resides in the area told me he witnessed rats running around that back door (which is not a back door but a side back door of the store, my guess is that these places get really hot so they prop open the back doors to let the hot air out). He also mentioned to me that they sometimes put these trays of fried chicken on the floor or near the floor and you can clearly see them as you walk past the store’s side back door, mainly during the night time. And again, that block is full of rats everywhere. Anyways, eat at your own risk. I believe this store received a B for their health inspection, I may be wrong there but if I’m right I’d like to mention that it’s super difficult to get a B for any clean restaurant. So there’s that, eat at your own risk, ignore this review or...
Read moreI've been eating John's since I was a kid. Even after moving out the neighborhood, I still drive an hour to Inwood to get it. It's my absolute favorite! The taste has never changed. I put my grandson on and he loves it too! Unfortunately, the lady attending the counter last night was super rude and nasty. For years I've been getting the short thighs. I've even bought 35 pieces to cater events several times. This woman told me that I couldn't order them because the meal doesn't come like that. Um, ok then don't give me the meal. Give me the chicken and fries separately. She said they don't do that. What?! Are you kidding! 40 years of going to John's and she didn't want to sell me the pieces I wanted? Her attitude was atrocious. I truly hope John's management sees...
Read moreI truly enjoy John's Fried Chicken. Its moist, greasy, and marinated in God knows what, and I like it. Taste is subjective, especially in the fried chicken realm...perhaps you won't be as thrilled. The experience won't set you back much either way. John's is cheap. There's also a staggering variety of Dominican inspired items in a steam table towards the rear that includes various rice dishes, roast chicken, pernil, spaghetti, vegggies etc... I often order yellow rice with my fried chicken. Its a little gritty inside and there are only a handful of tables, so plan on taking...
