Via on line and actual calls I and the manager George determined that there were 3 bottles of Jacuesson Cuvee 738 in stock. These wines were to be gifts for family and was the main reason I traveled to the store. When I arrived from Downtown. There was 1 bottle in store even though the store inventory said 3.
Since I was also interested in a Hewitt Cabernet that was not on the shelves. A store employee (who was a looked like a teenager with long hair and glasses) was able to find a different bottle of 2011 Hewitt Cabernet stored in the basement after asking 3 other employees who had no idea even what the bottle was and waiting about a half an hour.
The two other Jacquesson 738 bottles which were gifts were determined not in stock with broken or stolen.
There is no parking lot. Cars are double and triple parked. Most employees are drinking Coffee out of plastic shot glasses and seem to be more concerned about blasting Bachata music rather than helping customers.
I was really upset that I had traveled out of my way. I had conformed via telephone calls and on line that the bottles were in the store. I had traveled a log way to get to this store and I was fuming that I had wasted my time. Eventually I found the store manager who had no idea how to help me or make it right. The same guy employee with long hair and glasses who helped me find the Hewitt told the manager that "i should buy the wine or not and then get the F**k out of the store in plain English.

Subsequent calls to the wine manager George only confirmed my problem. George basically was non apologetic and agreed with me basically stating that the store was bout discounts nothing more or nothing less.
Lesson learned stick to the standards Astor Place Wines, Sherry-Lehmann Wine & Spirits, Park Avenue Liquors Ect. its simply not worth the hassle!!! This place is like trench-warfare discounted prices nothing else to offer. 3rd world standards and mentality and is non apologetic for there business model or short comings. Not for...
Read moreBig store lots of variety. However, went I to buy today a few wine with my mother who recommended that store. Due too she lives in the area. Not one person ask us if we needed help. Everyone speaking Spanish in there. We walk around and got some in a card any way on our own. As my mother was taking one from the shelf it fell and broke. Do you know these people actually told her we have to pay for it. We have travel the world and shop at many different cheap & high stores, seen this happen many times to others. But never was once ask to pay for what is broken by mistake!!! I was so upset. My mother just wanted to buy what we got and don't cause trouble. Cause she lives in the area. That would be the last time I spend my money there!!!! I rather pay a little more and get better service that being treated like that. I bet if it was a Spanish person that happens too. They wouldn't have had to pay for the broken item that feel by...
Read moreThis is more than a neighborhood wine shop. The variety and selection are beyond comparison to anything I've experienced in Manhattan. Find everything your guests will expect at PJ Wine. Also introduce them to special somethings you discovered here, in a box or on a shelf or rack. There are occasional tastings and promotions but no hype. Summer weekends and the lead up to holidays the store can get quite busy. There are always staff restocking shelves and assisting the vertically challenged. Be assured, there are many check out registers and the line, if one has formed, is moving too fast to step away and add one more thing to your basket/cart. I recommend this shop to friends and strangers alike but my endorsement comes with a caveat, the cashiers. From on high, they are bored and lacking good humor. Rarely smiling or acknowledging customers, perhaps they are...
