I recently had the pleasure of dining at Juban Restaurant, and I am thrilled to share my exceptional experience at this delightful Japanese establishment. From the moment I stepped through the doors, I knew I was in for a treat—a culinary journey that exceeded all my expectations. First and foremost, the food at Juban is simply delicious. Every bite was a symphony of flavors that transported me to the vibrant streets of Japan. From traditional sushi rolls to exquisite sashimi and mouthwatering grilled dishes, each dish showcased the artistry and precision of Japanese cuisine. The ingredients were fresh, the presentation was impeccable, and the taste was a delightful explosion of authentic flavors. The menu at Juban Restaurant offers a wide range of options, catering to both sushi enthusiasts and those seeking traditional Japanese dishes. Whether you are a seasoned connoisseur or new to Japanese cuisine, the knowledgeable staff is always ready to guide you through the menu and provide recommendations based on your preferences. Their passion for the cuisine is evident, and it enhances the overall dining experience. The ambiance at Juban Restaurant is another highlight of the experience. The serene and elegant decor, combined with soft lighting and traditional Japanese elements, creates a serene and welcoming atmosphere. The attention to detail in the interior design adds to the authenticity of the dining experience, making it feel like a true escape to Japan. What truly sets Juban Restaurant apart is the exceptional service provided by the staff. From the moment I entered, I was greeted with genuine warmth and hospitality. The waitstaff were attentive, friendly, and ensured that every aspect of my dining experience was taken care of. They were well-versed in the menu, happy to answer any questions, and made me feel like a valued guest throughout my visit. In terms of value, Juban Restaurant offers an excellent balance between quality and price. The portion sizes are generous, and considering the exquisite flavors and top-notch service, the prices are fair and reasonable. Dining at Juban Restaurant is an experience that provides exceptional value for the quality of food and overall experience offered. In conclusion, Juban Restaurant is a true gem for Japanese cuisine lovers. From the delectable dishes to the serene ambiance and attentive service, this establishment excels in every aspect. Whether you are seeking a memorable sushi feast or a delightful exploration of traditional Japanese flavors, Juban Restaurant is a must-visit. I wholeheartedly recommend Juban Restaurant to anyone craving an authentic and unforgettable Japanese dining experience. With their delicious food, inviting ambiance, and impeccable service, Juban Restaurant deserves a well-earned five-star rating.

From across the street you are struck by the stunning brightly lit giant mosaic of what looks to be peonies in full bloom in a vibrant swirl of bright blues and pinks. The oversized wooden door is typically thrust open, weather permitting, in a welcoming gesture and you are further greeted by the oversized paper lantern by the door on your right as you enter taking two step up through the threshold of the doorway. When you walk in, you enter into a dark stone and wooden Izakaya which transports you to Japan. The aromas of fresh fish, homemade soy sauce, the grill, and fresh citrus fills the nostrils furthers the experience. On this evening, Mikio greeted a friendly, “hello” at the bar as he led me and my friend to our seats, a creative cubby style seating to accommodate two guests sitting in benches at an intimate 90 degree angle. I always drink the Tokyo Sour which has a perfect acidity to cut the fattiness of the Yakitori and some of the fish to come later on. We enjoyed the freshest seaweed salad with a delicately earthy sesame dip. The Tako Wasa is a must with the brightness of the wasabi and plesantly textured raw octopus. The staff seamlessly works together to replenish drinks and water, with the owner himself gracefully moving about in his precisely coordinated outfits. The Momo Yakitori with the delightedly juicy morsels which are perfectly charred, and are always my favorite here. The Sashimi Five Kinds, which is consistently served perfectly slightly below room temperature, had us nodding in enjoyment followed by a Toro-Scallion Handroll special with the extraordinarily crispy seaweed and fatty tuna which melts in the mouth, leaving the guests wanting more. The Salted Caramel Mochi is the perfectly salty and sweet morsel to simultaneously cleanse and amuse the palate. I have been gatekeeping this restaurant for a while now, but felt only fair to share my true thoughts about Juban. Thank you, Juban!

i stumbled across this place during the snow storm and decided to give it a try. i ordered 2 of their special menu items (these change so they may not have it available when you visit): shiitake mushroom soup with truffle oil, and a fatty tuna (chutoro) hand roll. i also ordered their saikoro steak and for dessert their matcha ice cream with tempura banana. shiitake mushroom soup: the broth had a light but very distinct, nuanced shiitake flavor. the truffle is also very present and complements the shiitake very well. it was perfect given the weather. tuna hand roll: the fish was fresh and the roll was well crafted. i’m usually not the biggest hand roll fan but i did like this one. saikoro steak: very light in flavor/seasoning with the emphasis on the beef flavor. the dish was served on a hot stone plate. the meat was cooked to perfection and the quality of the meat was decent. i prefer a little more seasoning or perhaps even experimentation with the different flavors. this dish to me felt a bit lackluster and oversimplified. it also comes with brussel sprouts which were not cooked all the way through. tempura banana/matcha ice cream: the ice cream had a rich matcha flavor that was light and not overbearing. i wasn’t a huge fan of the tempura banana as i just felt the texture of the crunch and the mushiness of the banana wasn’t working for me. as many have mentioned the vibe is super cool and service was outstanding. prices are a bit on the higher end. but if you’ve been following my reviews, these factors are not a factor in my rating.

We just hosted a private corporate eCommerce dinner at Juban and I can confidently say it was one of the most exceptional dining experiences I’ve ever had, not just in New York but anywhere.

From the moment we began working with the team, Ashwin (the owner) went above and beyond to help us pull off an unforgettable evening. We had around 20 guests, all founders, operators, and executives from top eCommerce brands, and every single person left raving about the venue, the service, and especially the food.

Let’s start with the food. Every single dish was flawless. From the first bite of sushi to the final course, the quality and preparation were on a different level. The flavor, presentation, and pacing of the meal were all handled with such care. You could tell you were in the hands of true culinary professionals. People were still talking about the toro tartare and A5 wagyu the next day.

The sake selection? Unreal. Ashwin personally helped curate a lineup that paired perfectly with the meal and gave our guests a real education on high-end sake in a way that was both fun and approachable. He even made sure everyone’s glass was always full in the most non-intrusive way possible.

Now the space. Juban is one of the most beautifully designed, intimate spots you can find in the city. It’s upscale without feeling stuffy, luxurious without being pretentious, and the ambiance they’ve created is ideal for both a special night out or a thoughtfully executed private event like ours. The lighting, music, and overall vibe were immaculate. It felt like our own private slice of Tokyo in the heart of NYC.

But the thing that stood out the most was the hospitality. Ashwin and the entire team treated us like family. Every detail was taken care of, every request was handled with grace, and the level of professionalism was next-level. Planning a private dinner can be stressful, but they made it feel effortless. Juban genuinely made us look good in front of our clients and guests.

We’re already planning our next event here. Honestly, even outside of business, I’ll be coming back again and again. Whether you’re planning a private dinner or just looking for an unforgettable night out with world-class Japanese cuisine and hospitality, Juban is THE place.

Massive thank you to Ashwin and the team. You made our...
