my friend happened upon the spot by chance on her way home and thought that our friend group should check it out. the weather was so nice out and we'd thought it'd be a cute little moment to drink and have fun outdoors. and OH MY GOSH WAS IT FABULOUS!
the bartender than runs the place, bogdan, is an absolute gem of a human being. drinks were solid and so were the fries. i love the blue color scheme with the benches and the architecture. such nice pop of color considering all the other buildings in the area are an off white beige.
i'm not gonna lie: a big part of me was a little terrified at the prospect of an outdoor bar because the idea of having to go look for a bathroom freaked me out. it's bad enough bathrooms can be inaccessible in nyc, but no access to a bathroom and needing to use the restroom because of the alcohol freaked me out so much. so imagine my surprise when i find out there's 3 or 4 different bathrooms on the backside of the building where the bar is. I WAS SO FLABBERGASTED AND IMPRESSED. the bathroom kept the same blue color scheme and OMG IT WAS SO CLEAN. the bathroom was probably the thing i was most excited about if i'm being honest.
anyways for the tldr: this is such a nice place to drink and chill with friends when the weather is warm out. bogdan is super nice and super quick with drinks and the bathrooms are immaculate. definitely coming to visit again...

Bogdan (the manager) is a friendly face and gives Cheers smalltown bartender vibes even though we are in the heart of the big apple. The food is fantastic -- I especially recommend the chicken sandwiches. Also, the best frose I have ever had in my life. The open air experience in Foley Square is remniscent of being in an open plaza in an ancient European capital. Prices are fair as well. Perpetually shocked that this place isn't packed to the gills. Swaths of people from the judicial system and sprinkles of tourists to and from the Brooklyn bridge laze and unwind at the expansive open aired plaza. Truly a laid back place to hang out after work. The music is a well curated mix of 80's and 90's to which you can sing while having lunch.
Need to say anything else? Just come try it before the close...
