THE POWER IS IN THE PEOPLE After going there for years, Iβve witnessed countless arguments. Even though it was staring me right in my face, I always mistakenly thought it was the patron(s) who had the attitude problem. That was until the shoe was on my feet and I was the one being yelled at. Many times, my kindness allows me overlook when someone it taking it for weakness. But two recent occasions have opened my eyes and I am NOT going to wait for the third strike. So allow me to proceed to tell you what those two occasions are. Occasion #1: A gentleman ahead of me looked one of the servers in the eye and told her in his native Haitian Creole βnext time you donβt want to serve tell me.β She tried to play cute and dumb at the same time and laughed as if she didnβt know what he was talking about. He repeated himself and explained that she told him she would personally serve him; instead, she let two people go before him and served them, while another server ended up serving him. This βforgetfulβ server now was to serve me. I ordered my meal with no problem from her. Now you know itβs similar to an assembly line and, in the past, they usually come in FRONT OF THE SALAD area to SERVE THE SALAD. But on that particular day, she still stood from where she served the meal. Although, she initially made no eye contact or asked which side salad I wanted while I patiently waited for her to, she raised her voice and threw her hands in the air (getting upset at me) for not telling her which side salad I wanted. I was taken aback and confused by this turn of events. At first, I thought because I was next in line, I was just caught up in the hailstorm. But then, I realized she was still upset from the earlier incident when the male patron looked her in the eye and told her the truth. Now I am not a psychologist, but from being previously engaged to a child psychologist, I believe she just demonstrated a term called βprojection.β (I may be wrong). That was unprofessional of her and uncalled for. Occasion #2: As I was ordering two side salads, I pointed to two of them at the same time making a lowered #2 sign with my fingers. Therefore, the server only served me two side salads instead of what should have been three. Without asking me would I like a third salad (since thatβs what Iβm paying for), the server walked away feeling like sheβs just done her job. I kindly explained to the cashier that the server forgot to serve me the third salad. In a very nasty and rude tone she asked βdidnβt you ask her for two?β I asked her to repeat herself, because I couldnβt believe what I was hearing and didnβt know where the attitude was coming from. Sadly, I heard correctly. She blamed me for making the #2 sign not the server for misunderstanding me. Although, they were in the wrong, I apologized and explained that I was telling the server I wanted the two side salads but was just pointing to them at the same time. She tilted her head and blinked her eyes hard and didnβt even say βokayβ or βI understand.β As she was preparing to bag my food, I kindly reminded her about the third salad. She angrily spooned the third salad and threw it in the container as if she purposely didnβt want to serve it to me. I kindly took my food and told myself I wouldnβt ever come back there. The power is in the people. If we boycott them and any place with bad service, they will realize they need us and will offer...

When I got there they looked at me like they didnβt know what was going on or who i was like I didnβt just make an order but I waited and told them what I had ordered over the phone I continue to wait as I waited nothing happened people kept coming in bread and fritays was being sold and I was staying in the same place so now I start to question 45 minutes in waiting for my food after I already placed the order 15 minutes ago so now thatβs a total of an hour, I asked her again where is my food she continues to tell me they are now pressing the plantainβs after a hour of waiting they are now pressing the plantains to be fried so now this is where I start to question why did I even called in the first place as I continue to wait other people are now telling me theyβre frying the food but this is after an hour and 15 minutes later so now I start to question myself as to why I am standing here with a cold Haitian Patty and no food after an hour and 15 minutes of people getting their food ordering more food getting their food and me not receiving anything
I recommend you guys to NOT go there unless you would like to wait an hour and 30 minutes for a fritay with lil to NO...

That was three years ago. There has been updates. The wait time isn't terrible anymore. I went there on a Friday night at 7PM,peak time, and ordered Fritay and I was able to receive it in less than 40 minutes, WHICH IS incredible compared to the same time last year or three years ago. Depends on the day and who's running the floor, the line will respond accordingly. One of the main issues I noticed with Kal's is really managerial. Otherwise, the food is good BUT they dramatically decreased portions, which is weird because people goes to Kal FOR their Portions. Wait time isn't long anymore, a good improvement.
I'll be back here in a year or two, and shall provide...
