I patronized this restaurant because my mother likes their beef patties. The employees there move extremely slow and are very unfriendly. One would say they are “angry black women.” I stood on line one morning and they allowed people to come to the counter and purchase in front of me. I figures maybe this is their policy if you are not purchasing food you can just walk up to the counter and purchase other bakery items. I came in the store on 1/17/18 and I waited behind a man who was picking up bakery items. One of the ladies asked me if I was next I stated yes I am not ordering any food. She said I must “join the line.” At this point I had been waiting for 15 minutes and the line was now at the door. Keep in mind all of the women on duty saw me when I walked in and not one said ma’am please get on the line. Unfortunately, this is why places like this will cease to exist in the future. Gentrification is real and treating your customers let alone a fellow black woman is such a disrespectful manner is part of the problem in black communities. We have to start with ourselves. Needless to say I will never purchase anything from the again. Hopefully today I will file a complaint with the owner. Based on the type of employees he/she has representing him/her I doubt anything will be done in the way of...
Read moreI recently visited Tastees for the second time, and overall, the food is pretty good! I ordered the oxtail with rice and plantains to go. I also ordered the stew chicken for my partner, but I can't vouch for It because I didn't try It. The oxtail was tender and literally came right off the bone, which is always a good sign. The rice and plantains were also tasty, and the portions are definitely generous. Unlike a lot of places that skimp on portion size, Tastees fills up the pan, which I really appreciated.
However, I did run into a small hiccup when I asked for mac and cheese—unfortunately, they were out. I was a bit disappointed, but when I asked for a side of plantains instead, I was told they couldn’t guarantee there would be enough left by the time I got there. It was around 6 p.m. when I called, so I was a little surprised that they were running low this early. Despite this, I did end up getting my plantains when I arrived, so all worked out in the end.
One thing to note is that parking in the area can be tricky. Most people seem to be double-parked along the street, so it’s something to consider when visiting. Not really a reflection of the restaurant itself, but...
Read moreWhy do I feel like I as over charged for small banana and yam with codfish? $15? To all you business owners, whatever you steal from your customer God will see to it that you repay in full. The server didn't even have the decency to put the food in a plastic bag. The oil and water soaked through the paper bag before I reached my destination. So I went back to the restaurant today, and purchased the same meal, same size, but was charged $8, opposed to the $15 she charged me last time. I purchased the same meal today again, June 26th, 2024 $8 not including tax. One of them decided to act like an ape, forcibly Clearing her throat. Throat cancer do not discriminate fool.
