I regret to say that my experience at Kingston Bake Shop was deeply disappointing due to discriminatory behavior. When my trans partner and I visited, we were told that the kitchen was closed until 1pm. I noticed it was 1:03pm so I politely asked when about they would be reopening the kitchen and she then told us the kitchen actually closed AT 1. All this while handing a customer her food right next to us. Are we invisible? Felt like it. If you don't want to serve unorthodox and queer folks I suggest being a bit more graceful about it. And letting us know your "kitchen is closed" before we take time to look over the menu and discuss about our food orders. It was incredible. We were standing at the counter and she was just watching and listening to us plan our whole order. What a waste of time. We passed up two bagel shops and went out of our way for a more authentic experience. Well the experience was authentic for sure. Authentically rude and distasteful. Holesome Bagels was the better option and they served us with respect and it was very fast and delicious. If you are queer don't go here. We are...
Read moreKingston Bake Shop is my go to breakfast/lunch spot. Their breakfast special is such a good deal (the potatoes are legendary) and they make me my perfect egg sandwich with onions, cheese and hot sauce on a whole wheat bagel. For a small place, there’s good hot meal options, but they also have sandwiches and salads for on the go. Everything super fresh and delicious.
Also, can’t finish this review without mentioning the baked goods. Made fresh every day (so be warned they do sometimes run out of stuff) my faves are the cherry turnovers and the bourekas. But really, all of the baked goods are chefs kiss.
Truly love this place. And if you can make it here in December for Chanukah, they make the best fresh donuts daily that you’ll find anywhere on the eastern...
Read more1st of all, I was very impressed with the service, and friendliness of the guy behind the counter. The food in general is very good, and pretty good prices too. But what I am really impressed with is their brand new coffee machine! The machine has an incredible amount of things that it can do, different types of coffee, it grinds the beans on the spot properly, then it can froth the milk for you, and it can cold froth the milk for you which can make you an iced cappuccino or other such similar drinks. It can also froth almond milk for you, And the coffee tastes excellent. This is probably the only store on kingston with such a machine, almost like Starbucks!!! So if your are looking for a great coffee... it's a bit more expensive, but...
