Service was good and my bowl of ramen came out very quickly. I ordered the Okinawa Shio, not sure if it was because it was "Okinawan" style (since I've never tried Okinawan style anything before I can't comment on the authenticity) but the skinny noodles were too firm for my taste. The broth was also too salty for me, but had very good depth of flavour and was very rich. The portions are not very big, those with bigger appetites might find themselves leaving hungry unless you also order side dishes. Update, downgraded from 3 stars to 2: Decided to try this place again to see if it was simply the menu item that I tried last time that didn't suit my tastes. This time I ordered Tonkotsu Shio, which was on their special menu. The tonkotsu umami was rather lacking, though the noodles were not as hard to chew this time. Unfortunately, service this time was severely lacking. The waitress said nothing to us and gave us no acknowledgement except to ask "anything else?" For $14 for a bowl of soup noodles, I expect both better flavour and at least a smile. Won't be coming back.

A small Japanese ramen restaurant tucked away in the Financial District of Manhattan. This restaurant offers delicious Japanese ramen, donburi, and other shareable small plates while being low-cost and affordable! You have to get here early as seats are limited! I definitely recommend the Beef Menchi Katsu Curry Rice. The curry is not too thick or too watery, perfect consistency for the rice and katsu. The beef menchi was delicious. A perfect, crispy exterior with a soft interior. For those looking for a spicy kick, try the Kuu Chili Ramen. Just the right amount of heat to spice up your meal. The spice does not overwhelm the toppings or noodles, so you can still taste each ingredient's natural flavors. If you are out with coworkers or friends and want a late-night drink, we were recommended the Dassai 45 by the waitress. The sake is 15.5% alcohol, but you do not taste any of the burning sensations. Instead, you get a smooth flow of alcohol. I was definitely pleased by this recommendation!

First off I'm not a huge fan of paying what I'd like to call the ramen multiples. 15$ for a noodle soup in my mind is just way more than it should cost. Therefore I made the GF pay for this meal 😁. In NYC there are so many ramen places so I'm writing this from a perspective of everyday ramen versus that unique special ramen that I will remember forever. Place is small, service is fast. The noodle quality is decent. I got the tonkasu shoyu which is awesome because it comes with the egg. Soup base was good; not overly salty and you can tell it wasn't watered down etc. The pork pieces were nice size. Other places (other fancier places) have slice them extremely thin...I'm not a fan of that. They essentially make you order extra which is another 4$. Which leads to my point of expensive multiples. This place doesn't do that which is great

My review to post to Google:

Customer service: I walked into Kuu and noticed that there was 1 table for 2 that had a little metal rectangular sign that said "reserved" and that there were 2 or 3 open stools for solo eating. I was solo eating that day.Ā I asked the lady working there for a menu.Ā I was told by a lady working the register that I had to go outside and get in line. Mind you, there was no line outside of Kuu. I looked at her incredulously because I was eating by myself and there were 2 or 3 available stools. I asked her, really I have to go outside? And she said yes. As I was walking outside, I had half the mind to just walk out of there and not come back, but because my colleagues raved about this place, I decided to not bring my business to another establishment.Ā So I got "in line" although there was no line, and surprise surprise I was the first person in this make believe line. I wonder if their line policy is a way to create artificial demand by making people wrongly think this place must be good if there is a long line outside the establishment.

The food: I ordered the beef curry ramen. The noodles were straight and thin. Not a fan of straight and thin noodles. Texture is important to me when eating, so if you like noodles that are straight and thin then this place is for you. For those who prefer thick wavy noodles then this may not be the ramen place for you. The broth was pretty good. To my surprise, the ramen came topped with raw red onion, which I am not a fan of, so I scooped out as many of the raw red onion pieces as I could. Egg was decent. Overall an ok ramen. I will come back though to give this establishment a second chance, and next time maybe try their best sellers. For folks who think that Kuu has the best ramen, I highly encourage you to try ginger stamina ramen at Karakatta in...

I absolutely love the food and have told many coworkers about this place. I typically order online and pick it up because I eat lunch at my desk while working. My overall experiences here have been wonderful, above reproach. Until last week. The establishment opens at 11:30, and I had a noon meeting. So I went there to place an order in person, pick it up, and get back to the meeting. I couldn't place an order online as it wasn't open yet. I get there, the sandwich board is out front, the door is unlocked, and the time was 11:26. I walked in and the gentleman server (there are two that I know of, a dude, and a lady, and the lady is absolutely wonderful) asks me how many are in my party as he clearly wanted to seat a customer. I told him I wanted to place a to go order to which he replied "we're not open yet." I found this off-putting. If you're not open, you're not open, so why ask how many in my party? I concluded that once he realized he would most likely not get a tip for a to go order, he couldn't care less about me as a customer. I'd like to tell him if he's reading this, since you have my past orders on file, that I actually have tipped every time I've ordered to go food. So, I had to wait four minutes, big deal, right? Well, he didn't think so. He made a big production of going around the tables, straightening each and every one, pulling chairs into place, and at one point he actually undid some of the opening steps that the lady waitress had done for example, pulling the guard down on the drinks refrigerator after she had pulled it up. I could sense the tension, and it was unpleasant when he finally took my order. If I ever go back here again, it's going to be by ordering online only, but I don't trust this waiter to deliberately mess up my order especially now that I'm calling him out for...

Food was amazing, it came fast too , the kitchen staff were very nice greeting you on your way in , the price was okay but it’s normal for New York , but the waitress with the glasses was really rude , she was okay when we came in but I heard another guest ask her for something and she said to them no I’m busy and stormed off, when we were done with our plates she snatched them from our table , and when we went to pay the bill came to $64 and she gave us the card machine and said that price doesn’t include tip (which we didn’t want to tip I only tip based on service and we didn’t really have any) she we decided to skip it and she hit the back button for us and said okay select the tip option so we said okay thank you and pressed skip again , she then hit the back button again and said okay so you would not like to tip and we said no thanks , and I could see the anger in her eyes but honestly I don’t think she deserves a tip at all , I bet you get better service inside a prison!!

I understand you want a tip but I have worked in hospitality for 14 years and that’s not how you earn one

In conclusion would go here again?

Yes I can ignore the bad service from this one member of staff for great food but if I find another place with similar quality food then I would go...
