Went on 04/2 night to get a cake, since I had gone before and I havent had any problem before, plus treats are nicely decorate and tasty. Unfortunately, my issue happened at the moment of process payment. Cashier hit the Cash button on the register while I meant to pay with card. She insisted me to pay her with cash which I didn't carry much.I hand her $20 so I can pay for another product which I could actually afford with cash, but she just push and push to give her the difference which I didn't have. Considering the situation which was really aggravating, I requested just to have my money back and dont get anything , for which she DENY and kept pushing to give her the difference or give her a payment throw Zelle ( which is awkard + my phone was sadly death at the moment). She finally called her manager and the only solution was to give me the cake for $20 but I still had to transfer the girl $18 since her manager requested her to pay the difference out of HER POCKET ( once my phone was on I did the transfer ) .This is definetly just not the right way to make business. The Manager there should train better their cashiers so they can cancel or fix an easy understandble mistake so they can avoid giving hard time to their staff and costumers ( horrible experience) Highly doubting to buy treats there again. The cake...
Read morePros:The store was neat, well lit, clean on the outside. The displays are beautiful and enticing. Excited to try halal desserts and pastries while visiting from out of town. Customer service was good/ decent.
Cons: Unfortunately the cakes and desserts were a marvelous mirage in terms of freshness and flavor. Everything was bland and we tested negative for COVID.
The issue I think is in the quality of ingredients they use. Spent around $55 would spend $55 just the erase the disappointing experience from my mind.
The breakfast pastries we had for dine in had to be reheated twice because they were served cold. The desserts we tried were red velvet, tiramisu, giandoua, and Black Forest. Did not try their breads. Almond croissant did not have almond paste in it, wouldnât recommend if you are fond of almond flavor.
The one item on the menu that was decent was a zucchini muffin or something similar to that but I wouldnât travel all the way to NYC just to try this one item.
I hope their pastry chef learns better recipes and uses higher quality ingredients. They definitely had the aesthetic for pictures but not much substance. From my experience the fondant remains pretty long after the cakes have gone stale leaves a bad impression on someone who loves...
Read moreI cannot RANT and RAVE about La Baker enough!!!!
I chose them as my birth announcement bakery to make 6x6 inch individual cakes, cake pops and cupcakes. Not only was the owner able to communicate effectively on Instagram with me but the staff at the actual location was very pleasant to speak to and knowledgeable in answering pretty much all the questions that I had. I spoke to Lisa at the store. As I wanted to use my own boxes to be able to decorate and personalize. She was very informative in providing the actual dimensions of the cake and what size boxes i would need for the cakes. She helped me placed the Amazon order while in the store.
On the day of the delivery I had fallen asleep and the delivery person actually stood outside my house calling me, texting me. She was extremely kind and pleasant.
I would not change a thing about my experience with La Baker. Very professional, extremely transparent, and to top it all of which was my number one reason to chose La Baker because they are 100% Halal and a Muslim establishment. I felt very comfortable in knowing that everything will be halal and I would not have to question anything.
I will be going back to try the sandwiches and assortment of other...
