I wanted to like this place more, I guess we chose it because they had specials advertised outside, it had a sanitary grade of A and it was really clean. The hostess told us to sit wherever we wanted and gave us nenus.
As I was walking to the bathroom I noticed some other menus on the bar. One was the specials & the other was the drinks. When I got back from the bathroom the waiter had brought over the menus to the table.
They advertise margaritas for happy hour outside and Taco Tuesdays any taco 3 dollars each. We were the only people inside of the place. The waiter told us that the margaritas that were part of a happy hour were only the regular margaritas you weren't able to get any flavor margaritas. I had my heart set on a strawberry margarita so I had to pay full price for it which was I believe $12 each. I really didn't know what I wanted and when I was looking at the menu I wasn't too impressed because it seemed to be more of like a diner with some Mexican food. I was so indecisive. I also didn't like that they didn't even provide chips and salsa for the table like most mexican restaurants do.I finally just ordered a shrimp quesadilla. My friend ordered fish tacos. And my other friend ordered a chicken quesadilla.
My shrimp quesadilla, how can I describe it? Well it definitely needed more flavor way too many onions and peppers. I like the fact that it had Oaxaca cheese. It also came with some guacamole Pico de gallo and a white sauce that definitely was not sour cream but looked more like ranch dressing. We did order guacamole for the table and it was quite a small portion but then again it was only $8. The guacamole itself you could tell it wasn't fresh it was super cold so you could tell it wasn't made to order and it needed to salt and some lime juice. The chips could have been heated they were probably out of a bag. One my friends fish tacos arrived, they smelled so good so I decided to order one of the fish tacos. I had one triangle of my shrimp quesadilla and then just ate the fish taco that I got. I took the other two pieces of quesadilla home. The fish taco was really good. The fish itself was fried crisp with a thin batter it had a cabbage slaw on top and a spicy smoky type of sauce on it that was very tasty. I kind of wish that's all I had gotten instead of the quesadilla, like I said before the quesadilla had too many onions and red peppers and they were big pieces and they seemed to be just sweated out a little bit before being placed into the quesadilla.
The service was good, place was clean but they should offer all margaritas for happy hour & at least provide complimentary chips & salsa and...
Read moreI was very disappointed with my plate. First of all, the steak in the plate with the yellow rice and black beans does not come with the egg. (That red sauce shyt) They call it huevo rancheros. Literally all they do is cook the eggs scrambled then they dump the red sauce on top of the egg, sprinkle that shyt with diced jalapenos and bit of cheese ON TOP. It tasted like mediocre eggs. She said the eggs come with the rice and beans but the meat cost $20? The steak was good but small. When I saw the bill she charged me 20 for the steak and 13 for the eggs. Really? I didnt wanna make a scene cause I was with my dad but the rice and beans weren't that great either. It had no taste. It not like those real Mexican rice and beans. So disappointed. That whole plate shouldn't cost $33! My father's plate was WAYYYYY better. He had the veggie quesadillas. I love my jamaican drink. You cant make that wrong. GET THE VEGGIE QUESADILLAS! You'll be straight, AND THE JAMAICAN drink. The waitress only mention that the steak would be 20 but she never made it clear that it's only the steak by itself nor did she mention that those discusting plain eggs with red suace on top with the yellow rice and black beans would be a extra 13. She should have made it clear that I would have to pay 33 for all that. I still gave her a tip cuz I know she didnt cook it but part of it was cuz she should have been clear and straight up and say "meat cost 20, eggs with yellow rice and black beans extra 13, the plate would be 33, its not worth it!" I would of tip you better for that but no. It would be messed up if I didn't tip her at all but I'm not that fxxked up. So I gave her something. Next time just be honest and say it ain't worth it. Waisting my dam...
Read moreThis is my boyfriend and I's favorite restaurant in Jackson Heights. Both their American and Mexican dishes are always delicious and on point. I order delivery here every week sometimes more than once because of the variety. They never let me down. Everything is always hot and packaged super well. They never forget anything and are generous when asking for extras. I actually LOVE their salads which you might not expect but trust me their cobb salad and shrimp salad are delicious and way better than other restaurants in the area who you would expect to make a good salad. I've gotten 3 other people outside of me and my boyfriend to try them and they also love them. They also have an amazing burger. It's super juicy and you can customize to your taste with the toppings - again better than any burger in the neighborhood including purely American restaurants. I get it medium and it's always perfectly cooked with perfectly crispy fries on the side. On to their Mexican food - I've had their tacos, burrito, cemita, enchildas, nachos, elote, quesadillas - all delicious. I especially was pleasantly surprised by their vegetarian quesadilla since quesadillas are usually not something I would order but their's is so flavorful with interesting toppings. Lastly, their dessert is also all delicious. Their tres leches is even better than the tres leches from bakeries nearby. Besides always ordering out, I've only eaten there in person once and the staff was really friendly. I hope to go soon for their brunch menu which I'm sure will not disappoint! Try it and order anything - I really don't think you...
