TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!
I went to specifically buy the van cleef one motif necklace in mother of pearl for my 16th birthday. As soon as I was paired with an employee I asked about the one motif in mother of pearl because that is what I came for. She said she had it in the back and would get it for me. Instead of getting it immediately, she told me to pick from colors in the display and I complied and still picked the three motif and five motif in white. I didn't like them so I told her to just get the one from the back and she did. Tried it on, everything was nice. Mom and I were finalizing and debated whether or not I should get the mother of pearl (white) or the obsidian (black) (mind you we were SURE we would make the purchase that day and made it evidently clear). I asked her to get to black one and she said it's in the back. Instead of just bringing it out to me, she started mentioning how she can't keep going back there, and if we aren't serious about the purchase we can't keep asking to see various items. Mind you this would have been the second time she went back there. So my mom spoke up for me saying how we are serious but we just want to make sure to get the right one because we're about to drop hundreds of dollars. She eventually comes back with it and starts telling my mom how her retaliation was "uncalled for" and that my mom should have a better attitude, despite her not wanting to give us good customer service in the first place. Not only that, her tone of voice was rude and inconsiderate, and she told me "you should know we aren't allowed to go to the back often" as if I worked there??. As customers we have specific rights to window-shopping (which we weren't doing, but I digress) yet the workers at this store completely disregarded that. As a teen shopping for gold jewelry for my first time this experience was horrible and will likely never return despite my mom's years of loyalty to that store.
They also quoted us $90/gram and sold it to us for $85/gram. Come to find out, on that day the price was $73/gram of gold. Incompetent liars and cheaters at Kundan!!!

Read moreAs a desi millennial born and raised in NYC, I’ve been to numerous gold stores that have Indian/Non-Indian owners as a child with my parents and now as an adult. Lately I’ve been looking for trustworthy legit gold stores for two reasons: 1. To sell my gold during COVID since it’s value has gone up and 2. To look for gold nose rings that would go with all my outfits (American & desi) but also have a slight desi flare at the same time. I tried Etsy, Amazon, and have even had cousins from back home send nose rings to America. Needless to say, the struggle was REAL lol.
I tried about 7 different stores this month in Jackson Heights to sell my gold and find gold nose rings. Many of them did not offer nose rings, just nose pins. When I tried to sell my gold, they offered much less than the market value of gold right now. Some of the employees were very curt and impolite when they realized we were more focused on selling rather than buying. I think many of us can agree when I say some of these stores in JH need to get better with their customer service!
Anyway after much searching, my exhausted parents and I decided to try one last time and headed to Kundan Jewelers. We were greeted warmly by Manisha and her family, the store owners. We got right down to it and they offered to buy my gold at a fair and MUCH higher value than when it was originally bought. I also wanted to buy new gold bangles to replace my over-worn and slightly damaged bangles and Manisha went above and beyond to help me find what I needed. I found great success and am MORE than satisfied with the nose rings I bought from Kundan Jewelers. Plus this got the desi parent stamp of approval from my hard to please parents lol(those of us who have brown parents know how they don’t settle unless they feel like they get the absolute best deal)! Manisha and her family showed care, professionalism, knowledge and I highly recommend everyone going there first before trying out any other gold stores in Jackson Heights because you will save yourself A LOT of...
Read moreKundan is my family and I’s first and foremost choice for gold shopping due to the quality of goods and care at this shop. When in Jackson Heights, this is the one shop we always stop by and purchase from. My mom is a long time shopper here, having supported the business from day one because of her positive experience with the owner. He is a very endearing individual who appreciates his customers new and old and as such, always accommodates them as best as possible. One of the other reasons we always return is because of the employees. We have had many positive experiences with them all but I must say my favorite, as someone who routinely comes here with my mom, is Shanta Khala. She is the absolute sweetest and makes every trip worthwhile. I actually look forward to coming knowing she is working there and will turn the experience from good to great. With her we can trust she will make recommendations based off our personal style as opposed to shoving down the latest in an attempt to make a sale. She’s built such a close relationship with me, my mom, and everyone we’ve brought with us to the shop and genuinely, she feels like family at this point. I’m incredibly grateful for her expertise, professionalism, and kindness. She greatly influences the positive atmosphere at the store and I can’t wait to see her again. If you’re ever in the market for gold, I highly recommend visiting Dada Ji and Shanta...
