Little Kuma Noodle recently opened in the space previously occupied by Noodlebox. Aside from the new signage, not much has changed. The interior looks nearly identical, and the staff are even wearing the same Noodlebox shirts. The menu is also quite similar, featuring a mix of Japanese, Thai, Chinese, and Korean dishes. Here’s what we ordered:
Braised Beef Ramen Bowl ($16): served with ramen noodles, bamboo shoots, fish cakes, fungus, seaweed, corn, onion crisps, half a ramen egg and your choice of broth (tonkotsu, shoyu, miso, curry broth or clear broth). With the staff’s recommendation, we went with the tonkotsu broth. My friend, who ordered this dish, really enjoyed the broth. He had some leftovers, and the staff was kind enough to provide extra broth for him to take home.
Pineapple Fried Rice with Chicken ($13.50): I think they probably used freshly cooked rice rather than day old rice as it was very moist and sticky. The chicken pieces were tender and soft. It was a decent fried rice that paired well with the fried chicken dish we ordered.
Korean Fried Chicken Wings ($13.75): 10 pieces of fried chicken wings & drumsticks served with your choice of sauce (soy garlic, sweet yuzu, smoke BBQ or Korean Hot). The chicken was perfectly fried—plump, juicy, and full of flavor. Its wonderfully crunchy exterior wasn’t overly salty, which I appreciated. Interestingly, the sauce was served on the side for dipping. I enjoyed the chicken so much that I felt it didn’t even need the sauce at all
Scallion Pancakes ($6.75): super crispy and flaky and served with light soy dipping sauce. I thought it was slightly too well done at first but the more I ate it the more I liked it.
A quick look at the menu revealed that all items were priced under $18, which is quite reasonable—especially for this neighborhood. We also received 10% off our bill as part of their grand opening promotion. I probably wouldn’t go out of my way to visit, but I’d definitely return if I were in the neighborhood and looking for...
Read moreNoodle Box Fusion is a great place to eat when you have trouble deciding which Asian cuisine you want because they have so many options. From Japanese, to Chinese, to Malaysian, you have endless choices. The store is not very big, so it may get packed during lunch and dinner hours. However, both times I've gone were on a weekday lunch and it wasn't busy dining in. They did have a lot of take out orders though.
I have tried a lot of their noodle dishes and I definitely recommend their beef chow fun. The noodles are the fat kind and they had the right texture - bouncy and tender. There was a perfect amount of flavor as well. I also really like their Malay Style Iced Coffee; it's not too sweet and it is a richer flavor compared to regular iced coffee. For appetizer, I recommend their fried salt & pepper king oyster mushroom. It's fried so well yet it retained all the mushroom's juices and flavor. The salt & pepper seasoning definitely help enhance the mushroom flavor.
I've never been here for dinner, but they have plenty of dishes for any meal of the day. Definitely recommend coming here for some...
Read moreI was there with my family had a few dishes including seasoned spare ribs, shrimp spring rolls, the spring rolls they used big jumbo shrimps and not the tiny little shrimps.... my favorite dishes were chef’s special chow fun with rib eye steaks. Those steaks were nicely stir-fried with the flat noodles. Another dish I really like was the ramen noodles Tonkotsu, I’ve tried many different ramen spots, the soup base is really amazing, I can taste the broth was freshly cooked in pork bone marrow. It’s not too salty and it has a nice favor. I’d definitely come back for the ramen and other popular Hong Kong style dishes. The place is clean and cozy which I was comfortable enjoyed dinner with my family. Most importantly, you pay for the high quality of food. Although their menu doesn’t have big varieties of food, it’s actually great for some people that get overwhelmed by too many choices. I would recommend this place and give...
