At the Bayside location, I’ve dined in once, picked up once and sadly did not even place an order the 3rd time because a staff member was rude, bizarre and uninviting. The food and service was decent the first two times I had it. Unfortunately, I recently attempted to walk-in on a cold rainy day and place an order to go. When I approached the front the cashier or waitress (not sure which) kept staring at me with an awkward smirk on her face. I pleasantly said “Please give me a brief moment to look at the menu before I order.” She didn’t respond but she kept smiling at me. I started to look at the menu but noticed she wouldn’t stop staring at me. I felt uncomfortable (It wasn’t a flirtatious or kind/curious stare) so after a few seconds I looked up and she was still smiling and staring at me awkwardly. I said “Is there a problem here?” She did not respond but just kept on staring at me. I found this behavior particularly odd and off-putting so I said “You know what? I’ve changed my mind I don’t need to eat here.” She finally broke her silence and condescendingly said “Goodbyyyyye” like she was glad to not have my business. The whole time maintaining this weird smile while never blinking. So, I walked out.
This was a bizarre experience to say the least. You would think the staff would be trained to say “Welcome to Bareburger! How can I help you today?” as a bare minimum industry standard customer greeting instead of the strange science-fiction movie treatment I received. I still cannot understand why this happened. I’m not a vagrant. I was not rude to her. I am rather plain and ordinary looking. I didn’t do anything to warrant this treatment. I’ll never go back to this location again. I gave it two stars because the first two times I had their food it was decent enough to try again. I have not been to their other locations so I want to be fair. Perhaps this was just one disturbed employee at a particular location and not a franchise-wide issue but I’m not sure I’d feel comfortable even trying their other locations after this. Nothing like this has ever happened to me before at any restaurant in my...
Read moreI had high hopes for this establishment, but unfortunately, my standards were not met. After ordering, the large fries took about 30 minutes to come out. The fries had a good salt level that kept you wanting more. Although 2 is the maximum amouny of sauces, the server saw the excitment in trying the many sauces that come on the side, so if you ask politely, they'll allow you to have 3. The 7 thai siracha ketchup tasted like a barbeque sauce and ketchup mix. We also ordered the special sauce, but that tasted like any other special sauce you find in a restraunt (Ketchup/mayo). The siracha mayo however was very pleasing. The lightness of the sauce complimented the salty fries very well. There are many more sauces to discover. When the burgers came out, the first thing we noticed were the cold buns. That put me off a little. The "El Matador" was not special. The guacamole and the pico de gallo all blended with the patty, so the individual flavors were lost. It all tasted like one small mess (The serving is quite small). I regret not ordering the "American," but I would not come back to find out. However, if you support their mission of being wholly organic, than I feel like their are other items on the menu that are...
Read moreThe atmosphere is ok but do not be fooled. I got food poisoning from this place twice. I came back again to give them another chance. I ordered the same burger I usually get with avocados, cheddar cheese, and the bacon on it. Just a regular bacon cheese burger, nothing crazy. I always ask them to make sure the bacon is WELL DONE. They use very thick bacon strips here. Idk why they do. If the chefs don't know how to cook them properly they shouldn't be serving it and that specific cut shouldn't be the only option. And I got very sick from food poisoning because they like giving people THICK soggy bacon. Even after you ask if they can cook the bacon well done they still give you soggy under cooked bacon. Even worse it's all over priced. Not even good quality food here. The beef is nothing special. They invest so much in rearranging furniture and costly ridiculous decorations but refuse to invest in better chefs that can cook and handle food properly. They charge all this money for food that gets people sick, shameful. I lost 5 lbs. My experience was so awful I couldn't eat solid food for a week and I was constantly in the bathroom and throwing out...
