B2J Tasty Pot/Beurjia (No Second Choice) 📍42-18 Bell Blvd, Queens, NY 11361 . I been seeing these spicy/sour fish spots opening up lately, guess this is the current trend? They all look hella spicy to me, therefore it doesn’t spark my interest at all. But I’m willing to try, and what’s great about this place is, there is a non spicy option… . We got (2) combos for 2 - each $65.99, comes with 2 add-ins (veggies, noodles, etc) 2 sides and 2 rice. Honestly, a combo for 2 can easily feed 3-4… While it’s more of a fish platter, you can substitute it with beef or half and half, which is what we did and I recommend that.. they use tilapia. . Signature Spicy Sour Flavor - I only ate a little of this, it was spicy and those peppercorns are insane, however, if you eat around them, it’s bearable, but I would avoid it if I could. . Tomato Flavor- this was very good. It was perfect balance of acidity to salty to sweet. You can prob eat as is but it goes so well with rice. It’s a very good broth. It’s loaded with fish and other ingredients. . Signature Sour Spicy - I can see why people like it, it’s good. I personally like sour/pickled cabbage, if only they had a non spicy version, I would get this… . Sides: they were all pretty big sides… Fried Milk - light and crispy outside, soft and silky inside. It was very good Century Egg - it was a very simple dish, century egg in some mild soy sauce Sweet Rice Stuffed Lotus Root - I couldn’t really taste much of the sweet taste of the rice, definitely something I’ve never had before, it was interesting to say the least, but not in a bad way. Chicken Gizzard - this was nice, crunchy texture. . Dessert - Milk Mochi - you have to get this, no matter how full you are, this is a must. The mochi texture pretty melts once you put it into your mouth. The milk is bouncy and custardy. All around goodness. . We had enough for another meal. I took the tomato flavor and added in some leftover meats and veggies. It was a whole...
Read moreI went here for the first time recently. We went around 9pm, and asked if we could eat despite coming in before closing. The owner said it was okay, and we were grateful for the service. Everything was okay until she asked us to pay as soon as the food came out. However, this wasn’t a problem and we paid since it was near closing anyways. The bill came out to $124, and we included 20% tip. Halfway through our meal, I discovered a strand of steel wool in my food. Immediately I was shocked, as it isn’t just hair or some dust. Consuming such thing accidentally could’ve resulted in serious health issues. When we talked to the owner, she offered to bring us more food. (B2J is having a promotion where if you send a text message to two people about their restaurant they give you free milk mochi. )We did this before we even ordered. She then comes with a free milk mochi, and we’re honestly surprised. She doesn’t offer us anything else, and when we ask for a coke, she tries to charge us $2, despite everything that has happened. We explain to her that we already did the mochi promotion, and she gives us a $2 coke for free. Honestly, as a new restaurant i was surprised to be greeted with such service. I understand it was near closing time, but we also tipped 20% on over a $120 meal. She never offered a partial refund, or anything else. All this just to find a stainless steel wool strand in our food. It’s honestly just disgusting. She took it away before I could take a picture. But just thought i’d share since not much was done to make up for...
Read moreWe got the 2 person combo which comes with your choice of soup base, 2 add ons, 2 side dishes and 2 rice. Honestly everything was great and super filling. We got the original soup base + spam + king oyster mushroom and for the sides the chicken in spicy sauce and the spicy fern noodles.
The soup was perfect, there was a good amount of beef and fish which is def a plus when you’re eating with your bf that only likes protein. The soup base was a great blend of sour and spicy. I personally can’t eat toooo much spice so I really liked that. (They do have a spicer option too)
In terms of the sides, I loveeedd the chicken. I always get steamed chicken in spicy sauce in every Szechuan restaurant I go to. (In search for one similar to my favorite restaurant that has now closed down). The one here was the closest I’ve ever gotten, will def be back just for this side tbh.
The spicy fern noodle was good, but not my fav personally.
Lastly the milk mochi is sooo good and refreshing after the meal.
The service was also a 10/10, super attentive and very quick.
Overall, loved everything about this restaurant!
PS peep how cute the togo packaging is for the...
