Luigi’s Pizzeria is the real deal. Been here about as long as I have, and sometimes, sitting in a corner with a slice, I get hit with a wave of the old days—misspent youth, greasy fingers, and a world that felt a little less mean.
They don’t hide behind menus or fancy plating. Everything’s out under the glass, staring back at you like it dares you to find a bad choice. You won’t. Pizza, calzones, meatball parm—it’s all solid. They’ve got a whole lineup of dishes if you’re feeling adventurous, but the classics don’t miss.
We can argue all day about who serves the best slice in Brooklyn, and then waste another hour talking about the Yankees’ chances this year, but none of it really matters. What matters is the food is good—whatever you’re in the mood for, they’ve got you covered.
And if your wallet’s feeling as empty as your stomach, go for the special: two slices and a can of soda at a small price.. That’s a fair deal in any borough, and a damn good one...
Read morePizza was delivered late. Delivery man wore no mask. The delivery person didn't even have the decency to bring the pizza to the apartment door. He kept telling me to walk to the elevator to get it. Repeatedly saying that he's double-parked. I speculate that he's just trying to make up time from being late to his other deliveries. Nonetheless, I start walking towards the elevator from the other end of the hallway. Two steps into walking towards him, he puts the pizza right on the floor. I cannot believe someone thinks it's fine to put someone's food, right on the floor -- during a global pandemic. I called Luigi's to inform them of what happened and all I received was an "I'll talk to him about this, sorry this happened". Will be ordering from elsewhere...
Read moreLuigi's is a solid N.Y. pizza place. They've got great round slice, incredible Sicilian squares, pizzas with great toppings that'll rival any pizza shop in Brooklyn. I used to order the chicken Parmesan hero for lunch everyday for more than a year because it is that good. The chicken cutlet is fresh, the breading is crunchy and flavorful, the sauce is tangy, not too much cheese and they bake the sandwich which makes the bread crispy yet soft. The staff are always nice and greet you with a smile and make you feel welcomed and you want to come back because that's what hospitality is all about. They've got comfy booths and TVs to watch while you enjoy your food. When you order delivery, the food comes hot and comes pretty quickly most...
