If you're a fan of authentic Latin American cuisine and killer cocktails, Mamajuana Cafe in the heart of Dyckman is a must-visit spot. This unassuming restaurant packs a punch with its flavorful dishes, and their signature chicken and rice is nothing short of a masterpiece. As soon as you walk in, you're greeted with vibrant colors, friendly staff, and the unmistakable aromas of spices and slow-cooked meats. But the star of the show here is undoubtedly the chicken and rice. This is not your average chicken and rice. It's tender, juicy, and perfectly seasoned, and pairs perfectly with the fluffy rice and flavorful beans. It's a comfort food classic that's been elevated to new heights, and it's no wonder that locals and visitors alike rave about it. But it's not just the food that makes Mamajuana Cafe special. Their cocktails are expertly crafted, with a focus on fresh ingredients and unique flavor combinations. From their signature Mamajuana cocktail to the refreshing mojitos, each drink is a work of art in its own right. And if you're in the mood for something sweet, don't miss their homemade flan. It's creamy, decadent, and the perfect way to end a satisfying meal. But what really sets Mamajuana Cafe apart is the sense of community that you feel when you're here. The staff are friendly and welcoming, and the vibe is truly authentic. It's not just a restaurant, it's a gathering place for friends and families to enjoy delicious food and good company. So if you're looking for a taste of Latin America in the heart of NYC, head to Mamajuana Cafe. You won't be disappointed.

Let's just say my experience at The infamous Mamajuana was interesting. We got seated and while my party chatted waiting for our drinks and appetizers it started to rain so we had to run to the covered area of the restaurant. Yes, seating is outdoors and no umbrellas 😡. Ok with the outdoors part but damn you can't invest on umbrellas, smh. Nonetheless, while we waited for the rain to stop; the manager was talking about shutting down while we wanted our food to go. At first she didn't want to take our order because she said she had to close the cover we were under. Mind you it wasn't just my party under it. It was good 10 patrons that were under it as well whom were there before us waiting on their food. So we decided to wait it out because first of all parking is a true luxury by Mamajuana and if you're not lucky to find one on the street be prepared to pay for one at a garage. Once, the rain passed and sun was peaking out the clouds the waitors wiped down the tables and chairs. We sat and finally placed our order for drinks and food. We had a paella, snapper stuffed with seafood and tres leches cake for dessert. The food was amazingly delicious the portion is actually for 2 people, as you can imagine the amount that we took home for that second serving, 😆 🤣. Bon appetit Mamajuana patrons!

Came over with my family to the (DYCKMAN LOCATION )as soon as I came in the hostess didn’t greet us properly or anything also was forcing me to take a seat I didn’t want to take because the table was moving a lot ,she pretty much gave me no option or any other choice her attitude was like take or leave it I don’t care,I guess maybe she is not the hostess maybe she is the owner or family of the owner or who knows but such a rude attitude is unacceptable and makes you feel you pretty much are getting charity if you are not a people’s person what are you doing working in a restaurant and even worst welcoming people, her negative energy and vibe literally ruined my night ,till finally I got service from MARGARITA an awesome waitress and ALEXANDER ROCHA who apologized for the inconvenience and went right away to prepare awesome and delicious drinks for us,as far as the food you need to specify how your dishes are coming out! And ask me if I want my steak with gravy on it and other stuff (AS YOU CAN SEE ON MY PIC ,STEAK SAUCE OR BBQ OR WHATEVER THAT WAS) And no! I do not like to have gravy on it! Don’t and won’t eat it with its neither pico de Gallo on top of my steak! I would appreciate to be asked this before and also to have whatever sauce served separate ,and by the way the pico the Gallo was not fresh bummer,I asked for a Sirloin Steak And was full of fat like literally full of fat! Wich I had to send bagk,I mean common guys for what you guys charge?I’m expecting the best,Thanks.

This restaurant used to be amazing, now not so much. Wait time is long-- even if there's no one there. The food tastes bland; We got the fried red snapper and the churrasco with chimichurri sauce, which I only ordered because of the sauce and we got a completely different red sauce topped with what seemed to be diced garlic, red pepper and onions-- not a traditional chimichurri sauce. When I asked about the dish they just kept repeating that was a chimichurri sauce. I'm ok with chefs getting creative but don't label it on your menu as chimichurri when it's not. The fish was just ok. The batter and fish tasted like breaded fried chicken. I've tried to give this place a few extra visits to see if it was just a night off but it always disappoints. They used to have a nice touch in the past where they gave you a complimentary shot of Mamajuana after your meal. We spent over $100+ and left regretting our visit. This was my last time dining here. The only plus to this restaurant is the portion size which is good for the price, but then again that's the norm in Inwood/ Washington Heights area. Also, note that the vibe here is loud. People smoke hookah inside and the music is blasting. If you're not looking to party 100% skip this place. I recommend leaving "restaurant row," and heading to the restaurants a block away right in front of Tryon Park....so much better food and service with still an upbeat atmosphere.

Coming to Mamajuana In Inwood is a unique NY Experiance. Inwood " is Just about as North and "Uptown" as you can in "Upper Manhattan", The lovely Sidewalk Cafe sits amongst several other pretty sidewalk cafes. Mamajuana however is favorably situated under 2 shady trees that kept our party of 6 cool in the 90 degree sun. We were there to celebrate our daughters high school graduation with several of her classmates. I had walked by this block last Autumn and filed it away in mylist of places to come back to at the next appropriate opportunity. Yesterday was that day and we were not disappointed. Our server Anthony was very welcoming and enjoyable, the staff filled our waterglasses endlessy, (like 7 or 8 times each) and we never had to ask. We ordered appetizers and they were delicious and came out in a very reasonable amount of time. The main courses definitely required some time but the food was delicious and the presentation was beautiful, well worth the wait.My wife and I shared the Puerquito which is a Pork dish with rice and beans and plantains. The pork was "fallen' off the bone" (just the way I like it). We all thoroughly enjoyed the delicious food, ambiance and wonderful service. I would heartily recommend it to anyone who wanted a delicious cosmopolitan NY Experience.

Visited on a Sunday. We did the All You Can Eat buffet for $39. It included the unlimited drinks. Great vibe, and music. The music wasn’t too loud where we couldn’t hear each other and the food was good. Drinks were strong, no complaints. Our waiter was great! And there’s hookah available too. Just remember to bring cash if you don’t want to use the ATM. There was a few people celebrating their birthdays and Mamajuana certainly helps with the celebration. It was nice to see. Def recommend.
