As I walked into Papasitos, I was hit by a wave of energy and excitement that was hard to ignore. The restaurant was buzzing with activity, with diners laughing and chatting over plates of delicious-looking food. It was clear that this was a place that knew how to have a good time. Located in the heart of Dyckman, Papasitos was a Mexican restaurant that was not to be missed. And if you're in the market for an exclusive brunch experience, this was the place to be. The vibes were simply amazing - from the upbeat music to the colorful decor, everything about Papasitos screamed "fiesta". But it wasn't just the atmosphere that impressed me. The level of service and quality of food at Papasitos was by far superior to their counterparts, mamasushi and mamajuna. The staff were friendly and attentive, always making sure that we had everything we needed. And the food was simply out of this world. From the guacamole and chips to the huevos rancheros, every dish was bursting with flavor and made with the freshest ingredients. But what really set Papasitos apart was the attention to detail. The presentation of each dish was impeccable, with bright colors and bold flavors that made every bite a feast for the senses. And the cocktails were a work of art in themselves, with creative combinations that were both delicious and Instagram-worthy. In the end, my experience at Papasitos was nothing short of amazing. A celebration of food, culture, and community. So if you're in Dyckman and looking for an unforgettable brunch experience, make sure to check out Papasitos. It's a restaurant that's sure to leave a lasting impression.

Excellent place for happy hr. I came here around 6:30 pm on a Monday. Hookah for $25 during happy hr and you can choose the flavor (much cheaper than the hookah next door at $40). They only had two flavors to choose from, which is fine because usually for happy hr you can only pick mint (from my experience at other places). I also ordered two sangrias- very small portion (not to mention the ice too), but to be expected for a happy hr, I guess. I was worried the sangria would be overly sweet or watered down, but it wasn’t. The food is a great value at $10 for most dishes- I received three fish tacos for this price, it was a generous portion and very tasty! I look forward to returning; however, the service could be improved. I found my waiter to be very awkward and not accustomed to serving English-only speaking patrons. He wasn’t mean but he also wasn’t friendly either. The hostess was actually a little more friendly. Gratuity is automatically included and hookah is cash only (I thought it was very odd my waiter didn’t inform me of this but I was prepared). Spent 34 for food and drinks with with everything included (minus hookah). Everything was great quality, I found it to be a good deal. Update: there’s a new hookah guy and it sucks

Calm spot w/ good vibes, food was great but they were understaffed This place is right next to mama sushi on Dyckman and its pretty chill. It has plenty of seating with a cute outdoor area, a semi-indoor/outdoor patio-ish area, a bar area and more seating in the back. You can order drinks and hookah, its mad chill. I got the shrimp and lobster mofongo, it was a little dry (which was annoying because the menu specifies the sauce and it was there just in a very small amount) but the lobster was fresh and tender and the plate was very tasty once they brought additional sauce. My friend got the churrasco mofongo, it was a great dish. The food was great, however it did take a an hour to get to our table. They were clearly understaffed as the place is quite large. The place was a bit pricey but nothing crazy, expected price for Dyckaman these days.

I went to this restaurant on 9/29/17 and unfortunately I have nothing but negative news to say about this place.

I first entered the door with my girlfriend and we basically had to hunt down the hostess because we waited about 10 minutes and no one was there to greet us. When we finally found the hostess she spoke to us in Spanish and gave off a negative vibe as if she was annoyed.

We had a reservation for 10:15 pm but we were running late so we did not get there until 10 minutes later. Prior to waiting an extra 10 minutes for the hostess. Due to this time frame, we lost our table for 3.

Since only 2 of us were there at the time she would give us a different table but we would have to wait an extra 20 minutes. We had no problem waiting because our 3rd person hasn't arrived yet. The entire time we were waiting there was a table for 3-4 people that was still on reserve. The hostess said that was our table to begin with and was unable to give it to us because we did not have our third person. Long story short, we waited 40 minutes to be seated at the table that was originally ours.

The food: I ordered the octopus salad from the appetizer menu and my girlfriend ordered the atlantic salmon. The octopus was very disappointing. It was not the typical salad I was expecting. It was a giant single greasy tentacle that lacked the typical octopus flavor. I had to brush the octopus against the plate to remove some grease. The salmon was average. There was nothing special or amazing about it. I'm sure that salmon can be easily replicated at home. The flavored mojitos were sweet to the taste. Which I did like, however it lacked in alcohol content.

Table side service: Very Very slow. It took about an hour to receive the above order and no one checked in on us after we received the food to make sure if everything was ok. Our drinks took a little longer than average but that did not bother me. By the time I was ordering it was close to 11:00 pm, 10:53 to be exact. I told the waitress I see a sign that says no credit cards after 11:00 pm and inquired about such notice. She said "don't you worry you will be ok". I said "are you sure because I will pay the check right now since I do not have cash?" She then insisted that I would still be ok.

Twenty minutes later there was a change that occurred, and our waitress changed which we were given a heads up about. However, after the switch the second waitress was no where to be found. I know it's a friday night and it was busy so I tried to be understanding about that situation. When I finally got a hold to ask for the check, I had given her my debit card. She then pointed to the sign and said they don't take cards after 11:00. I explained what the previous waitress said and she still did not take the card. I asked if there is an atm around and she said by the bathroom. Got the cash with no problem but I still had to deal with the atm fee. The bill came out be 78$ for 2 drinks, an appetizer and a main course. The only reason why they received any sort of tip was because I didn't have change and I was not going to wait another 10 minutes for change from 80$.

Environment: The music is extremely loud. It's basically club volume in a restaurant. They played a mix of spanish and hip hop music. After 11:00 pm, the music got louder (even though people were still eating) to the point where a conversation was even more difficult to have. There were some tables that had Hookah on them. Luckily the scent and smoke was surprisingly controlled due to the open front and outdoor seating. Crowd of people seemed to be mid 20s-30s.

Overall: Will I go back to this place. NO Will I refer to a friend. NO Will I discourage or warn another if they deciding on...

Don’t normally write reviews ever , but this time the service was so mediocre that I had to do it so others don’t have the same experience as we did. ( gave it 1 star) because I had to in order to share my disappointing experience. I chose this place because my husband and I love Mexican food . I am Dominican and he is Colombian , love our cuisine my have a special love place for Mexican food. We had a friend visiting from the Dominican Republic which we thought would like to eat Mexican food and have a good experience eating outdoors. Which is why we chose this place. We traveled all the way from New Jersey. We’re our dining out experience has always been excellent.

So what happened ? My friends phone was not scanning the menu code. My husband asked the waiter “ excuse me , could you please give her a paper menu because her phone is not working properly to scan the menu ? The waitress Ingrid , rudely responded “ pues entonces enséñaselo tú en tu teléfono “ ( so you show her the menu in your phone ) and just walked away from us. At that point we were embarrassed we our friend and angry and confused at the same time. She just asked her a question, she could’ve just answered “ due to covid we no longer have physical menus , please share your phone with her . Or just say we don’t have physical menus . We let that go and waited over 15 mins . For her to come back just to order drinks . Then , another 20 + mins to order food . Then we asked how many items came in the flautas order and how many tacos came in the taco order ( because my friend didn’t want a large meal she couldn’t eat . ) she replied as if she had to go , which by the time she got to our table , we were ready to order knew what we wanted and only asked that one question , but I guess that bothered her as well. Then we wanted another round of drinks ( our second round ) we had to ask a buss boy to help us because she never checked back on us . And on top of it all , when he called her and pointed at out table that we needed help . She stayed back and just nodded her head asking us with her facial expressions wassup I guess ? But didn’t even speak . I literally had to shout we want another two 2 X and a Margarita . We’re are we in the black market ? Wall Street ? Then to finish finally , the tip was already included as 18 % . We always tip 20 % and over but her mediocre service did not deserve not even 10 % . Feel bad for the owner who sat us down as soon as we arrived and I saw him helping out with other tables . Everyone else was giving excellent service from owner , buss boy and the young lady that brought out our food . But this particular Ingrid waitress does not know how to do her job . She needs to change careers . Owner if you are reading this , please don’t have to take my word , just observe and make your own...
