We went to Moonlite Grill & Chicken for dinner. We decided we wanted the family combo, but we were told that they ran out of the beef kofta and the lamb tikka. We got an extra lamb chop and chicken kabab to make up for it. We were disappointed because we wanted to try all the meats. To dine in upstairs, there’s an extra 15% service charge. They also charge $0.25 for credit card use. I don’t understand why there’s a service charge just to eat upstairs. There are bar style stalls downstairs, but it’s literally in foot traffic. Credit card surcharge should be a business expense and not passed to the customer. You also order downstairs and pay upfront before you get your food, so I’m not sure if that service charge is considered a tip because the screen didn’t give me an option for it. If their service charge is a tip, some people might want to give less and some people might want to tip more. It all depends on the actual service. The waitress didn’t know what was included in the menu options. The menu doesn’t have a description of what type of meats are included in the platter so when we asked, she just didn’t know. They also didn’t have any Coke. They ran out. The lamb chops were probably the best part of that meal. The mango lassi was good. The fries were cold. There’s a price discrepancy between the menu on the screen ($42.99) and the amount he charged us ($44.99). It isn’t much, but I’m sure it adds up with each customer. If you really want to try this place out, I would recommend the lamb chops only. I dislike the 15% service charge to dine in and the $0.25 credit card surcharge. Lastly, be wary of the inconsistent menu prices.

I would give it zero stars if I could. I went with a friend for lunch, we ordered a special shawarma (which was nothing special and less than ordinary) and a lamb kebab platter (which was a lot worse). But those together I would have given it a 1/5. The lamb kebab, the meat, was warm when we received it but the rice was cold. I mean cold. When we brought this to the attention of the waiter. He decided to argue with us. He said we were sitting in front of the fan and that's why it's cold. (What?? It got cold within seconds of placing it down in front of us? Make it make sense!!) And he kept arguing and arguing. Ugh. And when we brought this up with management, they said the same thing that the rice was not cold and laughed at us for bringing it up, like a mocking type of laugh. Like what?! They served another plate, it was the same scenario. (I could go on about the new plate and its presentation but I digress). In the end, we just left the food and ate at a nearby restaurant which was tastier, cheaper, and better! So disgusted with this place and the behavior. The food was 1/5. I give the 1 for the less than ordinary "special" shawarma. The lamb kebab platter 0/5 for being served cold. The Management/service 0/5. Do not eat here. I will never recommend this place to anyone. I live around here so I'm often eating in Jackson heights so trust me when I say, this is not it. Go eat in any other restaurant in Jackson Heights except for this one! Anywhere else! Save your money, your time and appetite!

Below was my original review from 10 months ago when they opened up. I NEVER do this but feel the owners need to know where they are headed. Most items now are no more on the menu as when they opened up and so I don't want anyone to be misguided. Went there today and fhe place has changed most items on the menu. Has become more of a mix or chicken rice vendors and similar places in the neighborhood. Hummus is not at all what it used to be. Kebab was not freshly made, rather freshly heated. Guys across street give u fresh kebab in comparison at half price. Never going there again ------- (Last years poat below) If you are looking for Quality Authentic Middle Eastern food then this is the place. I grew up in Middle east hence was delighted to experience the food here. Especially the Hummus, Falafel, Chicken Kebab and Special Shawarma. Even the chef is from Middle east and he knows how this stuff is made. The Place is Very Clean and one can enjoy the food upstairs in peace even tho its in Middle of Jackson Heights. There will always be hiccups as its a new restaurant opened during pandemic. I go there atleast once a week and love the food there.

This was place which I used to recommend my friends and family with quality of the food and the outlook of the upstairs.

I had really a bad experience recently and thought to share it publicly. I took my family with a guest visiting us last week. There was a front desk girl (she doesn’t introduce herself, so name unknown) who was taking the orders. She told us you have to order at the downstairs while standing before going to upstairs. In other words you can’t sit here before ordering. Fair enough! We decided to order.

While ordering, my 5 year old son, he said he needs go for pee. I asked her can I take him to the bathroom, she said NO. You need to order first before taking him to the bathroom! I really really shocked to listen what she said! This is stupidest response I have ever seen my entire life from a restaurant where I plan to dine-in!

She needs to know how to talk to customer. Apparently, the owner/partner also seems taking her actions very lightly and pretends he didn’t hear anything or he doesn’t understand anything!

Customer satisfaction in a restaurant doesn’t always comes with great food but it should come with good behavior to. They need to learn how to talk and how to show sympathy to kids.

This place is no longer family friendly. I revoke all my recommendation which I made to my fellas! This business won’t survive if they don’t care about customer who came there for ordering, not for peeing!

I will never...
