I was really REALLY looking forward to this buffet. The last time I had Indian buffet was in 2019 nearby Philadelphia and I thought it was tasteless. The last good Indian buffet I had was at the golden peacock at the venetian hotel in Macau and taj mahal hotel buffet in new Delhi. Paid $25 including tip.
Maybe this is a one off but after the meal, I had diarrhea immediately afterwards. I immediately thought it might be the water but had to remind myself I am in NYC.
The food was a disappointment. Everything that I tried, but the tandoori chicken, lacked Indian flavor. For instance, I felt like I was eating pink sauce rather than a masala tomato cream sauce. Chicken was moist and tender though. The palek paneer tasted one dimensional, the paneer was good.
The dal tadek felt slightly authentic (like a free non veg meal at a Indian temple) but I don't come to Indian buffet to just enjoy lentils.... The goat curry was ok. I didn't try the egg fried rice even though it looked really good. The naan was thin crispy and good. Didn't try the vegetable samosa. The Gulab Jamun was ok, could've been more tender, lacked the rosewater and butter flavor that I'm accustomed to.
Service was really good. Very accommodating.
Atmosphere I rated lower because it was warm and humid inside the restaurant. I was sweating constantly. Probably won't go back to eating Indian buffet for a very long time unless I'm traveling to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy wife and I really enjoy Indian curry a lot. We have tried numerous Indian restaurants in Queens, Long Island during past 2 decades and found a hand full of places that we actually like. We found this place by googling and paid a visit to try out. My wife's favorite is goat curry and mine is chicken curry. We ordered one of each and both were just GREAT! I fell in love with their goat curry after trying. Flavorful, tender meat, combined with kind and friendly staffs. We were served by a waitress name Tenzin and she is so sweet and always explains about every dish that we questioned with a smile and soft, kind voice. Oh, their garlic nan is very delicious too. Since our first try, we have been going there very often to have goat curry. They also make their own MoMo in the restaurant unlike many other places where they purchase from wholesalers. Delhi Heights' momo is quite popular and a lot of people come just to buy bags of momos of different types. Using only natural ingredients, their momo is like homemade ones. We should have found this place long before but it is never too late right? We have been going there twice a week for dinner for past couple of months. Great food and Great service. Thank you Mohan,...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI ordered delivery through Eat24 (a Yelp service). First, the delivery time listed on the app was way off -- which means the restaurant marked it as "ready for delivery" 15 minutes too early, or the delivery guy was slower than expected. (It's the restaurant that provides expected delivery times, not Eat24 staff itself).
The delivery guy called me when he arrived and spoke in such a muffled way that I could hardly hear what he was saying. He seemed to be interrogating me but apparently he was just telling me he was downstairs. When I picked up the food he said "give me tip," which is extremely rude. He pointed to the delivery printout saying that tips were in cash -- if he had just done that, and politely suggested that I could pay in cash, instead of forcibly demanding one -- I would have been more inclined to give him one. I'm trying to limit my expenses so I don't usually tip on delivery. Yes, this is improper too, but there are more polite ways for a delivery person to ask for...
