The wings at Mr. Dak were a standout feature of our meal. We tried both the Yummy Red Level 2 and Crunch Tiger wings, and each was cooked to perfection—tender and juicy inside. The Crunch Tiger wings had a distinct honey flavor that was prominent and delightful. The chicken was tender and juicy, providing a satisfying bite each time. The Yummy Red Level 2 wings, on the other hand, offered a balanced, sweet, and savory spice. The batter on the outside was crispy, yet the inside remained incredibly tender. The sauce was tangy and spicy, but not overwhelmingly so, providing a soft crunch that complements the tender chicken well. These wings were a testament to the skill and thoughtfulness that goes into the food at Mr. Dak, ensuring each dish, even those that may seem standard, shine in their own right.
In addition to the wings, we also indulged in the Spicy Doboki with udon and fish cake. This dish was served in a mini paella pan, adding a charming touch. The doboki had just the right chewy texture, and the sauce was tangy and savory, with a noticeable anchovy flavor, adding depth to the dish. The fish cake was deliciously chewy and paired excellently with the udon noodles, creating a delightful texture contrast.
The side dishes at Mr. Dak were equally commendable. The wedge fries and onion rings were fresh and crispy, adding a lovely crunch. The tangy sweet white onion garlic sauce accompanying the onion rings added an extra flavor dimension. As for the pickled radish side, it had a clean, fresh flavor that provided a great balance to the rich flavors of the other dishes.
The atmosphere of Mr. Dak was casual yet chic, with cool neon lights and black walls creating a cozy ambiance. The lighting wasn't overly bright, making it a perfect date spot. The service was highly commendable, with our waiter being extremely accommodating, even providing free onion rings due to a kitchen mistake.
To top it all, they offer free wedge fries for leaving a Google review! Our experience at Mr. Dak was thoroughly enjoyable, and we're already planning our next visit. The attention to detail in the cooking and flavors truly elevated the standard dishes, making for a memorable...
Read moreMr. Dak has been on my radar for a while as I heard it was a solid fried chicken spot approved by korean.
While there are many authentic korean restaurants on Northern Blvd, this is a local favorite for good reasons: impeccable food, cool interior, speedy and attentive service, clean bathroom.
You know how amazing their food was when I was willing to travel from deep Brooklyn to Bayside. Check out Mr. Dak for comforting korean food if you are in Flushing or Bayside.
*Boneless Chicken (cheese snowing, creamy onion, soy garlic) $32.45 ** We got the three flavor special with their most recommended flavors. Their fried chicken was the BEST I’ve had in NYC so far—the fried batter was thin and crispy, while the meat retained the juiciness.
Our favorite was cheese snowing as I was addicted to the cheese powder. The creamy onion sauce was unique and tasted like pringle’s sour cream chips.
*Rose Ddukbokki $22.45 ** It came with a big pot smothered in a creamy, non-spicy rose sauce. It was generously loaded with ddukbokki, fish cake, ham and sausages. It was my first time trying fried seaweed roll, which was rice wrapped in a deep-fried seaweed wrapper. OH MY SO DELICIOUS!!
*Mr Jjim Dak $41.45 * Their jjim dak transported me back to Seoul instantly. It was a savory and sweet braised chicken pot. The glass noodles soaked up the soy sauce and turned into a brownish hue. Incredibly flavorful. They didn’t skimp on the chicken as the pot was very heavy. The huge portion could feed a family.
*Mr Dak Kimchi Fries $15.45 The kimchi fries were covered with a web of sour cream sauce and sprinkled with scallions. It reminded me of halal cart. I found tons of kimchi and crispy bacon between the fries. If I had to nitpick, the fries weren’t hot enough but it was still crispy...
Read moreToday, I finally went with my mother to experience the store that my friend has been Amway for a long time, which really amazed me!
Fish cake soup:
A large pot of hot fish cake soup is especially suitable for cold weather. Because there are children, there is no spicy. There are three strings of sweet and spicy in the soup, as well as fish balls and fish tofu, which are my little baby's favorite. She especially likes to combine udon noodles and fish soup. The taste is delicious, which is suitable for friends who like light taste~
Chicken wing honey garlic:
This chicken wing is fragrant with honey and garlic, which is very suitable for the elderly and children. The skin is crispy, and the combination of honey and garlic is sweet but not greasy. My child actually ate half of it.
Rice cake and boneless fried chicken (special combo):
The rice cake is full of flavor, and the taste is just right, not too hard. However, for those who can't eat spicy food, it may feel a little spicy, but friends who like spicy food must try it sneer R. My parents like it very much. After eating it, I even packed the soup home. Boneless fried chicken is crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, sweet and sour. With green onions, the aroma is overflowing.
Kimchi pancake:
This pancake is crispy and delicious, which is definitely worth a try. It is especially suitable for friends who like the fragrance of green onions!
Generally speaking, friends who like fried chicken must try it. If you don't like spicy food, you can tell the clerk in advance. The meal is very large, which is very suitable for dinner with relatives...
