New York Flushing Coffee Shop Check-In ☕ Nine Coffee Shops Roundup

The desserts at CafĂ© Auburndale never disappoint. The açaĂ dragonfruit bowl and the waffle with strawberry and banana are consistently fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. However, there is something that’s been hard to ignore over several visits. As a Hispanic customer in a predominantly Asian neighborhood, I’ve noticed a pattern that’s both disheartening and hard to overlook. Time and time again, we’ve observed that parties arriving after us—often larger groups—are served or called ahead of us, despite us being a smaller party. Most recently, a group of four received their order before us, even though we had arrived and ordered earlier as a party of two. While I can’t say for certain what the reason is, the pattern leaves us feeling like we’re not given the same level of priority or attentiveness as others—particularly compared to fellow Asian patrons. It’s not something that feels outright intentional, but it does feel consistently noticeable, and it affects the overall experience. It’s subtle, but it happens too often to ignore. We love the food, but this kind of unequal treatment really takes away from the experience. We just hope for a more inclusive and equally attentive service for all customers. Everyone deserves to feel like a valued customer.

Minimalistic, modern, hip looking cafĂ©. White walls, blond wood furniture and bright lighting makes this cafĂ© picture perfect for Instagram. While this cafe has some great coffee, they are also known for their Korean bingsoo dessert. This a great summer dessert made with shaved ice flavored with milk and topped with various toppings like fresh fruits or candy. When we went here last, we ordered the mango bingsoo. And it was so very refreshing! The mangos were perfectly ripe and complemented the soft, snow -like texture of the shaved ice. It’s a hefty dessert and can be easily shared with one or two others. We also tried some of their cold beverages. We ordered the strawberry lemonade, matcha lemonade and the berry acai drink. The strawberry lemonade was delightful. It was not overly sweet or tangy with lemonade flavor which I liked. I thought the berry acai was very tasty but had a hint too much peanut butter for my taste. And I did not care for the matcha lemonade drink, but my friends thought it tasted great. The interior design gives off a welcoming feel; and low noise level and free Wi-Fi makes it a great spot to stay and work on your computer. They also have a cute outdoor seating area. Overall a really nice cafĂ© with great drinks and desserts.

This is a popular cafe and dessert spot on Northern Blvd that I had been going to every so often. It is located in the Flushing/Auberndale area (parking along the main road is available and on the residential side streets).

When you pass by this establishment you will actually notice it right away as it is bright lights with a white interior. The aesthetic and overall chill vibe makes this a nice place to relax. There is seating availability varies depending on when you go (prime time hours have a lot of foot traffic which is to be expected). The back area offers a bit more privacy and it also good for groups.

The variety of desserts they offer is enough to sate anyone's sweet tooth. The bingsu (Korean shaved ice) menu is what they are most known for. Popular flavors include matcha, mango, strawberry and oreo. The other desserts that I liked during my visits included the dragonfruit acai bowl, tiramisu waffle and the dalgona (made famous by Squid games but a very well known treat among Koreans) softserve and the berry croiffle.

Each order of ice is big enough to share among a few people (as you can see by the photo I provided) and each one is made to order using fresh fruits.

The acai bowls have a bunch of toppings you can choose from including banana, kiwi strawberry, chia seeds, granola, almond flakes, coconut flakes and honey drizzle. As you can see it is quite customizable.

The waffle is large size that is Each dessert they offer is portioned enough for sharing (or enough for a solo person who loves desserts). But it is a lot of dessert even for one person (I speak from experience!)

The soft serve is quite tasty but tends to melt rather quickly. So take any photos you need and indulge.

The croffle (hybrid of croissant and waffle) made a splash in NYC and I was glad to see they offered it here as well for one of he dessert options. The berry one was topped with mixed berries, condensed milk, whip cream and strawberry ice cream. The other flavors they offer include cookie butter, matcha oreo and a plain one (almonds, maple syrup, vanilla ice cream).

The employees that were working during my visits have all been polite and diligent. They take your order but are usually always busy. Do not expect too much small talk or chit chat which is common for places that are busy with customers. Sometimes I feel bad ordering the shaved ice because there is usually one person doing the desserts but she is very good at what she does. When you make your order, you are given a pager (buzzer or beeper) that alerts you when your order is ready. You then go and pick up your prepared order (there is no table service here).

Since this is a cafe, they of course offer a very nice variety of drinks. The coffees include popular ones like esspresso, lattes, cold brews, americano and flavored lattes. Non coffee offerings include chai, chocolate, matcha and white chocolate (some have both cold and hot versions which will be indicated on the menu). There are seasonal specials that tend to change so check them out if you feel adventurous. The teas can also be hot and cold for certain flavors,

Some refreshing cold drinks include lemonades (strawberry, lavender and matcha) as well as lime, fresh orange and grapefruit flavors. The strawberry smoothie is always good.

The signature drinks include Purple Rain, Hawaiian latte and a Golden latte. As you can see by now if you came for a beverage you would certainly be well hydrated.

Cafe Auburndale is a very nice spot to visit if you need to get some work done or catch up with friends or if you wanted to spend time with someone. Prices seem on par with similar dessert places in Flushing so make sure you budget for your visit and please tip...

Title: Disappointing Experience Due to Inconsistent Service and Rude Management

I recently visited cafe hoping for a pleasant experience, but unfortunately, I was met with inconsistency and poor customer service. It appeared that the level of service varied drastically depending on who was assisting you. What was more disappointing, however, was the unprofessional demeanor of the manager, Haley. During my visit, I noticed that some customers received prompt and polite service while others, including myself, were left waiting for assistance or even acknowledgment. This lack of consistent service created confusion and frustration among patrons. The situation was further exacerbated by my interaction with the manager, Haley. When I brought up my concerns about the inconsistent service, she was dismissive and had a rude attitude. Rather than addressing the issue professionally, she seemed more interested in ending the conversation quickly, which left me feeling undervalued as a customer. Overall, the experience was below my expectations, largely due to the inconsistency in service and the unfortunate interaction with Haley. I hope that cafe auburndale can address these issues to ensure a more consistent and welcoming environment for all customers in the future. I might consider returning if improvements are made, but as of now, I'm left quite disappointed. Haley “ the manager “ excuse was they have 9 employees and it’s hard to train them. And they are keep hiring new employees. Well I already see lack of their management and therefore service and quality of food is inconsistent. Nothing but disappointment. I wouldn’t spend a dime...

Came to Cafe Auburndale a few times during the spring/summer season and found it to be way too cold - they blast the AC so high that you def need to wear a sweater.. maybe even a scarf and beanie hahah. Had to take a few breaks outside in the warm weather to thaw myself. They have a chill outdoor area in the back of the cafe to do work as well. Coming here to socialize during the cooler months though - perfect indoor temperature.

I love Cafe Auburndale's wooden interior design, giving off a hip modern vibe. They provide free wifi, a clean bathroom, bright lighting, a variety of differently sized tables and seats, and an awesome acoustic playlist (thanks to SiriusXM The Coffee House). There are outlets placed near certain seating areas. There are also wall hooks to hook your bags/jackets on in the front area of the cafe.

I've tried the following so far (missing some other drinks): Matcha latte ($4.50) - extra sweet, but I have a sweet tooth Chai latte ($4.50) - light chai flavor, foamy Hawaiian latte ($4.50) - light coconut flavor, tastes like a regular latte with a fancy name haha Fresh mango smoothie ($6) Iced green tea ($3.75) Danishes ($3.50)

Recommend them all (except maybe Hawaiian latte haha). All in all, Cafe Auburndale is definitely one of the top cafes I frequent...
