Being a successful coffice/cafe a few things must go right on the onset. Your coffees must be excellent, WiFi super fast speed, food worth the extra few dollars people pay for using your space.
If the above are not excellent, you're pretty much left with a standard meh coffice/cafe where you'll have your regulars but will fall short to those looking for the perfect spot.
Muse is definitely not the perfect spot but they fall in the decent category as per my experience there. I was working in Park Slope and needed a space to do some work for an hour or so. With a little bit of yelping I decided to head over to Muse.
It's counter service for ordering but they bring the food to your table. I ordered a latte and a tuna sandwich on brioche. They definitely are pricey but I wasn't shocked considering most people sit there for hours taking up prime real estate.
The latte was excellent and I really enjoyed it but the tuna sandwich was pretty meh. For the price I paid I expected a little more than meh and the WiFi was so slow I ended up eating my food and leaving without actually getting work done (totally sucked).
So yeah, I think there is potential in their business motto but until then I'll have to find me another Coffice...
Read moreI love Muse Cafe. We live down the street and come here often. The food is good, the service is uncommonly friendly and personable, and they always go the extra mile to make sure you're enjoying your time with them. There is plenty of seating and the WiFi is fast & free. This is a fantastic neighborhood cafe and I'm lucky to live just down the street from it.
Some previous reviews have knocked Muse for things like uncomfortable chairs / slow WiFi / etc. These are old reviews and updates have been made (the owners are constantly working to improve this place, which I respect). The chairs & tables were swapped out several months ago for more comfortable seating. I've never had a problem with the WiFi at all. They painted the walls a few months ago, which really brightened the place up. They even started serving beer & wine a few months ago in case you're not in the mood for coffee. The prices may be slightly higher than some other cafes around, but if you're not totally on a budget you won't be disappointed if you give this...
Read moreMy hopes were high for this place based on all of the positive reviews I read, but unfortunately my experience wasn't as fabulous. Despite the website listing 7pm as closing time on the weekends, they kicked me out at 5pm on a Saturday afternoon. All but one indoor table in the back has a sign that says "no laptop use" which presented a very unfriendly vibe. (All tables were empty). I parked myself at the laptop back table because my plan was to get some work done outside of my apartment. The staff closed the front door, which was providing a lovely breeze, at 4pm, which made the indoor space hot and uncomfortable. I noticed there were 2 air conditioners that weren't on so I asked the staff if they could turn one on to cool the place down. They seemed to acknowledge me but did not turn them on. It made me feel very unwelcome and as if they wanted me to leave. I'm giving 2 stars since the smoothie I bought tasted good and they asked to see my vaccination card, which I appreciated. Otherwise, I'm not sure if I...
