This was my ORIGINAL review (from last year): I The consistency of quality of their foods makes Nick's a very lovable spot for me. I tend to order a lot during lunch here (because of their sandwiches). Yes, it's a bit pricey, but the quantity and quality makes up for it. Average chicken parm sandwich, which I add hot cherry peppers to it, and a soda comes to around 13$. Their pizzas are also delicious, however, only pies are sold--traditional thin crust without overdoing on the ingredients. CC and cash, easy access even with the 2d Ave subway construction. Overall, great value for great food.
This is NOW: All the above was true and great until I ordered this afternoon.
There is new ADDED 2$ delivery charge and it’s just plain bogus. It is not a tip, apparently, but a delivery charge. I highly find this a good business decision especially when a lunch special sandwich already costs 13$ and a 2.50$ for a can of soda. Not to toot my horn, but I always give a generous tip, but this new “delivery charge” not only deters me from ordering from this place ever again, but rather just go and pick it up. Or simply, use other new pizza spots around—Marinara, for example, is available AND in my opinion, better quality, and cheaper, AND they don’t charge the 2$ service fee, AND very friendly to order from. What used to cost me 15$ overall including tip, now cost 19$ WITHOUT the tip. I’m a fan of good food and paying for it, but there is a limit to it. 19$ for a sandwich and soda is a line I don’t I’d be crossing anytime soon, unless we are the Daniel—that’s the best Michelin Star rated restaurant in NYC (2017).
It’s unfortunate, but Nick’s used to be one of my go-to spots, but time to move on. Overall, given the new competition around with similar quality, (if not better), and better price points, I don’t recommend Nick’s as I have before. It’s not what it used to be.
Google should put an extra two “$$” to the already existing “$$” marker for this place.
Best to pick-up your food from them unless inclement weather, or eat in their outdated and ok layout, or order from else where they doesn’t added...
Read moreNick's Pizza, which is located on 2nd Avenue on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, is an absolutely fantastic NYC pizzeria! Per their website, "Since 2002, Nick’s Pizza has been a cherished cornerstone of the Upper East Side, celebrated for its authentic American-Italian cuisine and perfectly charred thin-crust pizzas. Now, as the next generation of family ownership takes the helm, Nick’s remains rooted in its tradition of quality, hospitality, and a love for bringing people together. With thoughtful updates to our space and menu, we continue to honor the values that make Nick’s a beloved part of the community—a place where every meal feels like coming home."
I recently visited for the first time with a group of friends while visiting New York City, and it was the best experience! First, their staff are very kind & efficient. We were taken excellent care of during our visit. Regarding cocktails, their Salve Maria is SO delicious! As for their food menu, I highly recommend their Old Fashioned Pie (a classic - you can't go wrong). In addition, their Mediterranean Salad is fresh + flavorful.
In terms of their available specials when we visited, our group was able to try their Arancini + their Dolce Pie, each of which were, honestly, amazing. Specifically, their Dolce Pie was so, so incredible (the BEE DOLCE hot honey absolutely made it)! Nick's is a great spot - I highly recommend...
Read moreI wanted to write this review after a good experience with Nick's Pizza on 2nd ave. I ordered online and had to make a stop somewhere else to pick up a different food order. I knew it would take about 30-45 minutes between ordering and picking up the pizza but, given the "long delivery time" noted in another view, didn't think that my pizza would be left waiting too long. Since a phone number (an entire account, actually) was required to order online, and no estimate of time is given, I figured they would call when done. Well, i get a call about 45 minutes later that says "hey your pizza has been done for awhile, are you going to come get it?" I was there approximately 2 minutes after the phone call asking why I didn't receive a call earlier (why call just to tell me my pizza is now no good). After a little back and forth, a nice, maybe 30y/o bearded man said "before you leave and hate this place, give me 5 minutes and I'll make you a new pizza," which he promptly did. This is how you handle a customer. Sure it might've been my fault, but I left happy and will return. The pizza was...
