My son and his beautiful, in every way, fiancé were getting married and they had selected this church in which to join themselves together for the rest of their lives. This eventful day was the culmination of the love, for each other, that these two people share and all of the preliminary marriage requirements, mandated by the Catholic Church. Fr. Kevin Madigan, the Pastor, had been wonderful with the bride and groom as they worked their way through all of the necessary steps, prior to the wedding Mass. They couldn’t have had a better guide to get them to the finish line. Finally, their wedding day had arrived! The bride and groom had decided that they wanted a very intimate Church wedding and Mass. The only attendees were to be the immediate family of the bride and groom. The church was absolutely gorgeous! Everywhere you looked inside the church you would see one beautiful area after another. The altar, with its many columns, arches, and frescos, was magnificent. A very fitting location for the Tabernacle containing the Body of Christ! To think, we had this magnificent house of God all to ourselves for the celebration of this sacrament between our son and his bride. Wow, how great is this! Now the time had come! Fr. Madigan was on the altar, all final adjustments to my son’s tux and boutonniere had been made by his mother, the photographer was ready to take the photos that would document this date in the lives of our children, the family members were in their seats eagerly awaiting the sound of the organ playing as the bride began to walk up the aisle, escorted by both her father and mother. What a beautiful sight this was to behold. As the bride approached the altar, the smiles on the faces of the bride and groom became more and more prominent. Elation was written all over their faces. They couldn’t have been happier as they exuded love for each other. The Mass progressed; Fr. Madigan said a beautiful Mass and gave a wonderful homily, my son-in-law sang the hymns beautifully, the organ sounded heavenly, the readings were done flawlessly, although the grooms mother got a little emotional during her reading, but this added nicely to this event, which was emotional for all involved. After all, two cherished children were joining their lives together forever, in the sight of God, in this glorious church. The vows were spoken and the rings exchanged, then the couple kissed for the first time as husband and wife; I was so very glad to have been able to witness the joining of these two lives. After the congratulations, hugs and kisses all around were finished, the photographer got to take the final church photos of the bride and groom and their families. This magnificent church made for a spectacular backdrop for the marriage of our children. It being in the photos will certainly enhance the beauty in our memory of this glorious event. As tremendous as this church building may be, the receiving of this sacrament was enhanced by the way Fr. Madigan handled the wedding from the first contact to the last. I was very glad that my son and his now wife, had selected this church for their wedding. In my opinion, this parish church ranks right up there with the very best that New York City has to offer. Now that the wedding is over, I have a very welcome new noun, to use in my vocabulary………Daughter-In-Law. Doesn't that...
Read moreOnly been for Catholic Underground run by the CFR.s, which if you haven't experienced you're missing out. At those events, the church is packed, not even standing room only. Hundreds of young adults pack the church for Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and Confession. The CFR's lead music, and throughout the evening you pray Evening Prayer and Night Prayer. A concert follows in the basement after the Holy Hour. Incredible experience. It's beautiful to see the church packed on a Saturday night when they could be doing really anything else. Some beautiful images behind the main altar...

Having visited this most beautiful church in the past for #CatholicUndergroundNYC, I was not aware of the cozy Lady Chapel that is open in the morning for morning mass. After mass the Holy Rosary and the Devine Mercy Chaplet was prayed in group with very kind locals and my heart was left full. Thank you for having me. 🙏🌿🤗😊🕊🌹...
