It was a quiet midweek afternoon when I made my way to Paquita, nestled on a postcard-perfect corner of the West Village. The moment you arrive, there’s a sense of calm—subtle, polished, and unmistakably intentional. I had called ahead to make a reservation, and the process was effortless. No fuss, no delays—just a soft, warm welcome waiting at the door.
The interior strikes that perfect balance between posh and personal—soft lighting, layered textures, and a layout that invites slow conversation. We were welcomed by Nancy, who was as kind as she was knowledgeable. She guided us through the tea selection with genuine care, encouraging us to take our time as we explored their curated global collection. For nearly ten minutes, we lingered over jars, smelling and studying the ingredients before choosing a few stronger black teas. Every part of it felt intentional, thoughtful—never rushed. And for those looking for something gentler, they do offer a variety of caffeine-free options as well.
To accompany the tea, we ordered a full flight of their Baby Cakes Set—a delicate and beautifully presented selection that felt like a small celebration in itself. We chose a range of flavors: Royal Vanilla, Triple Chocolate Brownie, Orange Crème & Strawberry, Vanilla Crème, Royal Chocolate, Lemon, and Chocolate Strawberry. Each one was uniquely layered, striking that rare balance of elegance and indulgence. They didn’t overpower the tea—they danced alongside it.
Out of all the tea houses I’ve visited, Paquita might just be the one I’ll return to the most. It’s not only the refined setting or the global selection of teas—it’s the way you’re treated with such care. Nancy made the experience memorable, grounding it all with a sense of genuine hospitality. Paquita is the kind of place that lingers with you—soft, elegant, and just a...
Read moreQuaint, calm tea shop good for a cute date when it’s not overwhelmingly packed (mainly on the weekends). Decorative tea cups and pot. Intricate interior that warmly embraces you with the smell of tea right as you walk in. The outdoor seating is a small utilitarian shack of wood and glass, doors open to the air and West Village shrubbery. Very compact store and they’ve made good use of the space they have. During rush periods there’s not really anywhere to sit and service can be a bit slow
Expansive selection teas not often found elsewhere, but I feel the blends often aren’t strong enough to stand on their own. That largely comes down to individual preference though, ofc.
Now, I love so many aspects of this space but the store policies are a bit unwelcoming. 1) They don’t allow re-steeps, so much of the loaded tea bags go to waste…one small pot for $9 is a bit much, and 2) there’s a no laptop policy even when it’s slow.
The workers are very nice but through no fault of their own, haven’t had most of the teas so they aren’t as equipped to make recommendations. I believe stores should be generous with having their workers try everything, both for the quality of the workplace, and for the customers who they can...
Read moreGorgeous little tea spot. A true gem. The tea was great and has beautiful selection. Atmorpheme was so calm and amazing. Just very tiny. Indoor has only 2 small table as you can see other folks picture. We sat outdoor.
Menu was bit confusing... and the system but the staff was very sweet and explained well. When you enter, you choose your tea and purchase at counter (pay first basically) and she brings out the tea.
The price was little expensive but not terrible. 2 pot & 2 tiny muffoc came out $26+ tip. For location & quality, It's really not bad.
I won't recommend during busy time since the spot is very small and It's not the type of spot you would just grab and go..(to do that the price is bit high, in my opinion)
But if weekday during day or evening or if they do have available table- PLEASE GO AHEAD and enjoy your peaceful tea...
